May 2014: 250 ml bottle in cardboard box. ABV is 16%. Pitch black colour, low tan head. Strong aroma of roasted malts, alcohol, oak and tar. Intense flavour of tar, oak, sweet malts / molasses, coffee, English liquorice - and alcohol. Quite boozy, and too much of the good stuff, but interesting and challenging, to say the least.

Bottle at share, courtesy of Buckeyeboy. Solid black pour with a thin ring of beige head.Big, rich roasty aroma , dark chocolate. Taste is more of the big roast malts, ashy, chocolate, raisins. Thick and full.

The nose is smoky, with soy sauce and charred malts. Not an overpowering smell, surprisingly. Flavour is big, but more restrained than one might expect. Soy sauce, dark chocolate, smoke and a dose of alcohol heat. Drinkable for 16% abv, but that isn't saying much - this certainly does not go down quickly. Pretty good, but I think you enter the world of diminishing returns once you start hitting ABVs this high.

8.5 FL OZ bottle
Served in a snifter
This beer pours black and is topped by less than an inch of mocha head that disappears quickly leaving no lacing.
The smell is roasted malt and anise.
The taste is begins with hints of dark fruit and anise. Then I get some roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. The alcohol remains hidden.
Full mouthfeel
It is an interesting stout. It combines a lot of different flavors, and the high abv, while well hidden from sensory perception, is felt in a warm fuzzy feeling washing over me as I drink it.

A- jet black
S- Smoked pork/ bacon
T- Really sweet, smoke
F- Thick and oily like a stout should be
O- Not excited about this one, in fact I only made it through about 3 oz. The taste was really off putting.
