In this quite dark ale, dark malts provide flavors of coffee and dried fruit. Try with dark chocolate, cheese or red meat dishes.

Pours deep brown with a modest one finger mocha head. Not as dense or heavy as a stout, so a legit porter here. The nose is roasty; the flavor though is different. There is more emphasis on a sweeter profile, dark fruit and chocolate most prominent. The robust flavor deepens as the beer warms. I recommend serving this brew at 55F degrees to unleash the full flavor profile. A solid Baltic style porter. Currently pining for the fjords.

Bottled 21.06.23. Currently drinking this while overlooking the Oslofjord near Moss. How fitting. Happy to see this brewery still going strong. A high quality, delicious porter. Paired perfectly with the fire I made and the cool, damp mid-September night. Rich, roasty, with plenty of charred malt and dark chocolate. Smooth, clean, and not heavy which is what makes porters so great.

Pours a deep dark brown to black with a finger of beige head. The nose is roasty. The flavor is equally roasty with a hint or smoke and a smidge of sweetness on the finish.

Bottled & I swear these Nøgne 0.5l bottles look bigger than half a litre
Pours a jet black body with big sticking foamy off white head
Smell like burned toast with bramble jam
That in the flavour with an acid char finish

22oz bottle fresh from Norway, thanks to Ani and Erlend for the bottle.
Per the bottle OG=16.5P, 29 IBU, 7% ABV, bottle conditioned. Batch 1688 Brewed 14.10.16
Pours out to a deep brown, near black, forming a voluminous head. Brisk Psssht upon opening, and firm carbonation, ~3 carbs or so, so I suspect some carbonation developed in the bottle after the fact. Excellent retention and beautiful solid sheet of lacing, like a pillow of meringue that doesn't go away. The nose is great. Very nice black walnut, dark chocolate, subtle espresso, some fruity esters, some raisin and prune, subtle note of oxidation. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, light roast astringency, light hop astringency, lightly tart. The taste is a recap of the aroma, thankfully not too oxidized, just a subtle note of wet cardboard towards the finish. Nice dark fruit. The hops are earthy, not overly burnt, finishing with a slight sweetness balancing out the roast and bitterness. Cola like in the middle.
A nice porter. I suspect an English yeast strain which tends to throw those cardboard notes and esters. Worth trying!
