this beer pours black with transparent brown edges and a light brown head. about what you'd expect from a porter, with what looks like good carbonation and a nice thick body. the smell is of chocolate and roasted malts. coffee is also strong in the nose, with a hint of alcohol.

the flavor is bitter, sweet, then dry. a dried fruit sweetness and a hint of coffee. a bit fruity for a porter (i want to say dried apricot, which is more characteristic of, say, pale ales and ipas). the malts dont come through quite strong enough. a small hint of the chocolate suggested by the smell. the high point is a sort of sweet smokiness that levels the immediate bitterness and gives way to the dry mocha coffee flavor in the finish. interesting take on an american porter.

the beer is well carbonated and smooth with a very decent drinkability, hindered only by by its flavor.

Pours a black color. 5/4 inch head of an off-tan color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of sweet malt, roasted malt, alcohol, slight chocolate, slight hops, and a hint of wood. Much more like a strong American Porter than a Baltic Porter. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, slight oatmeal, slight roasted malt, slight hop, alcohol, chocolate, and a hint of sourness. Overall, good appearance, aroma, blend, and body, but the feel is lacking.

Nogne O 'Porter' @ 7.0% , a Baltic Porter served from a couple of 500 ml bottles purchased for $10 each

A-pour is a dark cola brown from the bottle to a near black in the glass with a big creamy tan head leaving a streaky lace along the pint

S-sweet , fruity , strong

T-semi sweet start , somewhat smooth & creamy middle

MF-ok/carbonation , seems to be big full bodied

Ov-ok/good beer , not my favourite style , glad I got to try it
