On tap at the Sail and Anchor, Fremantle
A - Dark molasses, thin creamy tan head and sheets of lacing.
S - Fruit cake, nuts, orange, coffee and booze.
T - Plenty of rich malts, dried fruit and nuts, chocolate, coffee.
M - Nice balance. Quite dry in the finish. Medium in body and carbonation.
O - The flavours do not particularly appeal to my taste, but they are prominent and complex. A good and interesting wintery ale.

Tasted by Brad (only) on tap at Deja Vu in Melbourne.
This is an interesting beer, a rare find, and two things stand out: it's watery and it's unusually hoppy. The colour is a cloudy dark brown and there's almost no head. The smell is rather nice -- lots of caramel and spices, such as cinnamon, nutmeg and orange (OK well that last one isn't exactly a spice).
The taste, despite the overwhelming watery-ness, is yeasty, malty and spicy -- but not sweet. There's a fair amount of hops in this beer, keeping it much more bitter than expected. And the aftertaste is unfortunate. It's bitter and dull, and reminds me of an old ash tray filled with cigarette butts that's been left in the rain.
Overall this is a novelty beer -- something rare and experimental, but probably something that needs a bit more work to get right.
