Qyuite a bit darker than most IPA's...more od a brownish-orange, clooudy. Head and lacing are amazing. Outthe fridge poured 3 fingers thick and took 5 minutes to receed to a cap. Lacing is thick enough to build a small community on the side of the glass.

Aroma is, well, average. Maybe the huge head retention is playing around with the transfer of molecules to my nasal passages.

Sweet crystal malt, nice blast of hop bitterness..mostly pine. grapefruit tries to dominate the remaining time, but malts do make a nice comeback. Finish is all citrus grapefruit.

Slick. oily, medium-full..all good.

I second the heel click the dude is doing on the label.

Yippee IPA has every reason to be cheerful - what more can one ask for than good looks and good health? The beer pours with a brassy shine, perfect clarity, virile bubbles and a strong, sustaining head (enough of which sticks to the glass to make the dishes seem a daunting task).

Yippee IPA definitely makes me want to dance and celebrate - aromas of candied grapefruit and caramelized malts tend to do that. It smells like it were 'wet-hopped' - the bouquet is very dank and has a very stinky, almost ganja-like herbalness. Imagine cutting the grass in the rain.

Just beneath this giant pile of damp leaves lies a mildly toasty maltiness that tastes lightly like toffee and tea biscuits. It has an almost spongy mouthfeel and gives the beer a little heft without weighing it down too much. I might entertain flavours of dried papaya and maybe a shot of grapefruit juice but, by and large, it's earthy hop and malty qualities running this show.

The beer is enlivened by a notably 'hard' water profile; though reminiscent of the infamously stiff, mineral-rich Burton water, it is even more suggestive of the sea brine of the cold Canadian East Coast. It gives the leafy hop bitterness more of an edge. Even at a relatively mellow 6.5%, make no mistake, this is not a beer for those who don't already have hair on their chest.

I've never really been able to make the distinction between 2 Pac and Biggie but this self-acclaimed "East Coast-style" IPA definitely doesn't have the bright, tropical notes of Californian renditions of the style. Nonetheless, it has its own groove - and I dig it. A balanced IPA certainly doesn't mean a weak or neutral IPA; this has some seriously dank hops and solid malts. This ale has all the character and pride you'd expect from Atlantic Canada.

look: 3 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 2.75 | feel: 2.5 | overall: 3

appearance:
dark gold on the pour, darkens up in the glass. to a nice orange.
thick creamy head. disipates some what slow, to a lacey froth ripple.

smell:
grapefruit. very citrus. sweet and complex. almost clove. malts are slight in nose.

taste:
bitter and fresh, like orange peel, grapefruit again also. heavy on hops.
obvious bitterness makes it drinkable, although its sharp..its not over done.

mouthfeel:
feels very sharp on the drink, levels out quickly, goes down nicely to a bitter end.
leaves a definate citrus grapefruit funk in my mouth. bitter and sour.

overall:
maybe its because ive never really been a big fan of the style of IPA,
at least from what ive had, but this is just a bit ..much.. i really love picaroons
and all the beer they offer, but with its 6.5 abv..and the overpowering grapefruit tones..it seems like its a slightly heavy handed attempt at something which im not quite sure theyve accomplished. once again picaroons are an amazing brewer,
I just dont personally enjoy this ale like i do the remainder of the offerings.

A- A little darker than I expected, clear copper color with hop particles floating.

S- Smells great, very fruity, tangerine, lemon some malt but citrus overpowers.

T- pretty plain, not bad not good. Mild malt and hops combined to be ok but weird.

M- pretty decent full mouthfeel, thick but not viscious

O- not outstanding but if you see it, I think it's worth a try

500ml Bottle - thanks to frenchy for this one

Appearance - Clear copper colour with a large size fizzy light beige coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation and there is some great lacing. The head lasted for over 5 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Malts, toffee, hops, grapefruit

Taste & Mouth - There is a lower than average amount of carbonation and most of the taste is made up of toffee/caramel, hops, and malts. There is also some grapefruit flavours mixed with a bit of resin. It ends with a toffee sweet aftertaste with a good dose of hop bitterness.

Overall - I really enjoyed this one, it is probably one of the better English IPA's I've had so far. It had a lot of taste/sweetness going on, but it wasn't getting into cloying territory. I'd drink it again anytime.
