Pours a clear golden/orange into a tulip. Slight white head goes away relatively quickly. Nice lacing and sense od carbonation. Looks the part of a good west coast IPA.

Smell is not overpowering but still there. Citrus and juicy hops all the way. Not overly floral but still pleasant.

A nice hop bite upfront in the taste, gives way to pleasant (but not overtly strong) citrus and a nice , non-astringent, bitter finish. No particular sweetness to note. Alcohol is pretty muted for me.

Mouthfeel is very crisp, which is generally speaking what I like in my IPA's. For as hoppy as it is, it doesn't feel particularly sticky or resiny. Feels about as "full" as it should given the abv and style.

West coast IPAs have become one of my favorite styles over the years, and reviewing this as that style of IPA, it doesn't quite belong in the upper tier (just outstanding, pliny the elder, anything by alpine) but it is still very good, and for the state of NC it's about as good as its get for hop forward ipa. If this were regularly available on draft, i would seek it out.... same deal if it were available in 6 packs. For the time being I can only get it in bombers, and for me its just not quite good enough to justify constant purchases at that price point. But by all means if you are a big IPA fan give this one a chance.

22 ounce bomber -> tulip glass

A - pours up crystal clear copper with a two finger off white head. Retention is decent and lacing is extensive.

S - very pine, resin, and earthy

T - strong caramel malt presence with very bitter piney hops on the finish. A bit spicy too.

M - thinner than I expected for a taste that big. Good carbonation

O - loved this one. Nice and bitter. Not sure what the IBUs for this one is but I bet it is in excess of 75.

Poured from a bomber into a shaker pint, the beer is a pale golden-copper coloring with a filmy, light, thin, white head. Aromas of subtle citrus highlights, tropical fruit notes, and a rich, malty backbone. Some toasty and bready notes in the nose, as well. Flavors are bitter forward, very bitter, with a blast of tart grapefruit, some pepper spicing, and a toasty backbone. The bitter and tart is super heavy on the front-end, but does ease up towards the end, with a lingering grapefruit tartness throughout and grassy notes coming forward. The body is smooth and slightly light, with a bitter, resinous aftertaste of cedar, cut grass, and earthy notes. The finish is slightly effervesced, with a bitter and citrus tart linger.
