Poured from a bomber into a shaker pint, the beer is a dark, hazy, copper coloring, with a filmy, clingy, off-white head. Aromas of rich caramel, with roasted notes, and a strong resinous characteristic, bitter hops character, cut grass, woody notes of spice and earth, and subtle tart citrus notes. Flavors are bitter and roasted forward, with resinous notes, mossy and grassy character, a roasted caramel backbone, grapefruit and lemon rind tart, and pepper and wood spice in the tail end. Smooth, slightly dry, mid-body, with a roasted and bitter resin aftertaste. The finish is crisp, dry, and slightly slick. Nice brew.

This beer was very reasonably priced for a bomber. I believe I paid something like $4 for this one. Really, that is where MOST bomber should be, at least the $4-$6 range, too bad that is not normally the case.

Appearance: Nice tawny color, great head retention and crystal clear.

Smell: Not really a lot going on with this one. It had very little hop boom going on for an IPA. I got some light citrus notes and some graininess, as far as the barrel aging I didn't detect much in that department.

Taste: This tastes like an Olde Hickory IPA, they must use the same type of hops in basically everything they put out, with maybe the exception of Redeemer. I think these guys are better at other styles. I love the brewery, but I am also a fan of IPA's and they don't really do them all that well. I got very little balance, very bitter, but as I progressed through the beer it did begin to taste better than it did when I started. Maybe it was the alcohol kicking in and dulling the senses a bit. I didn't get very much if any of the barrel character in the taste either. They must not age it very long.

Overall: I am happy I tried it, I was good with the price, it was right on point as far as that goes. If you run across this oddball in the OHB lineup give it a try. You may like it.

22 oz bomber from Lil Roberts poured into a tulip glass.

A- A cloudy orangish brown ( more orange), one finger head that dissapates quickly

S - Smells delicious. Fruit, vanilla, floral hops.

T - Citrus, topical fruit, oak/bourbon notes,grains,some vanilla

M - Thin,slightly watery

O - An interesting local IPA. Not for the hop heads, but it is well made. An improvement in the mouthfeel would bring this up a notch.
