Look: It pours brown with reddish hues. It pours clear ad has an off white head with low head retention.
Smell: It has the initial aroma of bourbon with a nutty mixture. The nutty aroma resemble pecans. There are caramel notes in support with a low level of spiciness.
Taste: The flavor has a mixture of bourbon and nuts with the bourbon being a slight bit more forward in the balance. There are background cherry notes with some low level of spiciness.
Feel: It has a medium full body with a pleasant level of bitterness and a smooth amount of alcohol warming.
Overall, the combination of nuts and bourbon works well with the other background flavors and aromas.

22 oz bomber, bottled 10/30/18, poured into an elongated tulip glass. No head, a murky dark brown. The aroma is sweet bourbon, vanilla, and carmel malt. The taste is right in line. As it warms, the brown ale underneath comes through more and the taste becomes more balanced. The almost 11% is well hidden. Mouthfeel is little thin, but not ovrerly so, and the carbonation comes in medium low. Overall, I like the idea mixing a brown ale with some bourbon barrel, and this pulls it off.

A lighter colored brown ale, but it is packed with great aroma, flavors of vanilla, malt, bourbon. A mouthfeel being light but full bodied. I will buy this again.

Poured from the bottle into a snifter glass. Bottled August 23rd 2017.
Burnt and rusted red glowing body, with a touch of amber orange. Khaki and fleeting head that dissolves pretty quickly, but manages a creamy good sized collar. This really looks like a barleywine.
Nice aroma. Comes off a sense of possible wet body perhaps, but a good sticky barrel caramel note, touches of vanilla and cream also. Decent nothing amazing though. There's almost a sense of berry like fruit also.
Nice light palate. Doesn't quite have the heft of a stout, but the flavors are at least their by a slightly wet body. Creamy almost nougat with a light wash of caramel flavors on first sip. A bit of fizz carbonation, which unfortunately distracts slightly. Bit of a touch of hop bitterness that's slightly citrus as well which is interesting.
Very interesting take for an Imperial Brown Ale. Doesn't quite absorb all the great barrel notes, but gets some, and has a good interesting flavor.

Brewed 2012-14 with a diff face on label, OHB's BBA Imperial Brown is back for '17. Good bourbon taste. Perhaps a bit sweet, that should fade w/age. Great label.

Not bad, and totally drinkable, but I stand by my notion (and many others I'm sure), bigger more robust beers make better base beers, and benefit more from barrel aged treatments. Still worth a go, especially because of great price point.
