The pour an indefectible ebony color, the head preposterous in size, frothy in texture and the color a light chocolate brown with a sticky covering of lace after the head has dissipated. Aroma of lightly toasted grain, caramel sweet, malt, quite appealing to this old dark beer lover, with a big malt start that is benignly sweet. Finish is mildly acidic, the hops delectable in their spicy presence, bitter sweet chocolate dry aftertaste, and a decent drinking porter.

Poured nice and dark, very small head, did not last. Carbonation low.

Nose was roasted malt, touch of burnt coffee and licorice. Taste was mildly sweet at first, mouthfilling, dark fruits, with light bitterness at the back of the throat. Very drinkable tasty beer.

Presentation: 12oz brown bottle. Freshness date marked.

Appearance: Dark, rich brown with an off-white creamy head.

Smell: Hints of dark chocolate, earth and fruit.

Taste: Malty upfront with a twang of semi-astringency from black malts that mingle with a light hop bitterness. This brew goes a bit chocolaty, fading into a dry roasted grain flavour.

Notes: No surprises, good or bad, with this beer. Just an all around good porter.
