You can read Rumrunner's review below to get the general feel of the store. Let me then just add my own personal experiences.
The selection, quantity-wise is mid to large, but nothing as huge as a BevMo. However what they've choosen to stock is quality stuff. Not only do they care Rogue, Stone, Big Bear, etc, they carry various kinds of each. For example, they had Stone's Vertical Epic as well as the usual IPA and Arrogant Bastard like other liquor stores offer. There were a few items I haven't even seen at the better liquor stores in town, such as Reaper Ale, Ramapo Valley and Avery. Belgiums are well represented with numerous Chimays, Trappistes Rochefort and Westy.
Considering the quality of their selection, I'd say the price was right. Plus they had some deals on cases of, I believe, Firestone or Sam Adams or something of that nature.
They don't have beer experts on hand but I was at least pleased to hear one of the clerks steering a customer away from a six pack of Corona for a couple 22s of something with some flavor.

Huge selection of domestic/local craft as well as belgian, german, and english beers. Always something new every time I come in. I saw stuff from prairie artisan ales, tons of stuff from the brewery, rarities from belgian breweries like drie fonteinen, de struise, and fantome. In addition lots of local stuff from the bruery, alesmith, almanac etc. Very helpful and knowledgable staff makes great recommendations that I have consistently enjoyed. Definitely the best beer selection I have seen in any whole foods in los angeles.

This place hasn't been reviewed for a long time and I promise you...you want to reconsider if you've not visited recently. It's got a fantastic beer department.
I went in about 6 months ago and was impressed with the selection. Each Whole Foods seems to have a different amount of space and a different selection than the rest. This one, 6 months ago, was very good.
Now, as of last weekend, May 30, 2009 the beer section has at least doubled. This particular store may actually now be one of the best in the city, and I visit different places with great regularity.
Large selection of individual bottles of all sizes and from lots of countries. Lots and lots of Belgians, Germans and English, with other countries also available. Wonderful selection and one of the few places in L.A. that actually has a bunch of Dogfish Head beers.
I counted over 200 different six packs and four packs! I saw small bottles and 4 and 6 packs here that I've not seen anywhere else.
Prices not the lowest in town but reasonable and not out of line. Plenty of places charge more; price should not be a consideration when visiting here. It's value received.
Yeah...lots of Bud, Coors and Miller too but it's the smallest part of the beer department. This place is worthy of a high score and a revisit from those who haven't been there in the past couple of months. Really.

This is the largest Whole Foods market I have ever been in. Whole Foods markets are grocery stores which cater to the person who wants natural and organic foods. This store is solar powered and that makes for an environmentally friendly store. They do have an awesome salad and soup bar and plenty of food that is packaged to go if someone wants a healthier lunch or dinner.
This store is located in a very busy part of Los Angeles. It is surrounded by malls, shops and markets. The parking lot is large but it is often full.
This store has the largest slection of beer of any WF's store I have been to. A great selection of Stone, Anderson Valley, Avery, Alesmith, Dogfish Head, Rogue, Ommegang, North Coast, Mendecino, Kona, and plenty of other craft beers to be had. Plenty of countries are represented. British, Irish, and German beers of course. A very healthy selection of these. There are also beers from France, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, China, Czech beers and a few other countries as well. If you are staring at the beer cooler. Turn to your right not quite 180 degrees. Hello Belgian and Belgian style beers. A very well stocked store when it comes to Belgian beers. Many of them are stocked regularly and some rotate. They sell mixed packages of Belgian beers from time to time as well. Many bomber and magnum bottles to be had as well as singles and six and twelve packs.
A very well run store with a very good selection of beer. As with all WF's it is pretty expensive.
