thanks to Desaparecido for including this in the haul for snf lif week 6. poured from bomber into bell's tulip.

A-pours a mostly clear light amber/orange color with a thick rocky head. leaves distinct foam collar and noticeable tracing. head settles out to a thin strip with rocky chunks clinging to the side of the glass.

S-not a whole lot going on here for me. very, very subtle grapefruit hints. if there's one thing that jumps out (and there's not really), it would be sort of a biscuity maltiness.

T-as with the aroma, a rather bland taste given the category. a bit of alcohol and a decent malty sweetness, but even the up front bang and glowing warmth from the alcohol isn't as pronounced as i would expect to get from a 9% dipa. a very late hop bite in the aftertaste lends some nice lingering effects.

M-just very thin for me. i guess i would call it medium to thin, leaning on the thin side. no real creaminess and just a touch of hop stickiness at the trailing moments. carbonation level is nice though, right in that middle range where it should be.

D-very, very drinkable. not a ton of bitterness, alcohol is very well disguised. isn't overly sweet like what you get from some dipas. i'll bet that where this is readily available it can become a very dangerous session beer at 9%.

overall, this beer is just right down the middle in most categories. nothing that offends me or amazes me anywhere. except for drinkability where this is a homerun for me, it just sort of fades back into the list of good, but mediocre, dipas i've enjoyed.

This is my first review so please bear with me.

Growing up in the 80's I was a transformers fan and the word play on this beer would have been enough to make me buy it. Plus I'm a hophead so I had to buy it.

Poured into a 20 oz. Raven Lager glass.

Poured a beautiful orange yellow color.

Mountainous head that lasted a really long time.

Great lacing that was still on the glass this morning.

The smell hits you as soon as you pour. Hops, hops and more hops.

Coats the mouth and tongue and lingers for a while.

This is a very drinkable beer, but at 9.0% definitely not a session beer.

I will be picking up a couple more of these.

This is my first review so appologies if its not up to the snuff of some other peoples

22oz bomber poured into a duvel tulip

Appearance was amazing when being poured. Not sure if it was just the way the light hit it but when poured it was a magnificent shade of bronze/copper. Once poured (and out of the direct light) it is a darker shade of copper. Very small head and heavy lacing as it slowly dissapears

Smell out of the bottle was amazing, almost overpowering (in a good way). Very very hoppy.

Taste was quite sharp and bitter at first with a lot of grapefruit and citrus. A lot of carbonation (almost too much but just enough). Some pine but not too much. The grapefruit is the most prominent flavor here

Not quite the hop rush of hopslam (which, for better or for worse is what i compare most double IPAs to). This is a very easy to drink beer, very refreshing and very easy going down. Not much aftertaste (not that thats a bad thing) but leaves you craving more.

A very nice DIPA that i will definately be drinking more of
