I visited this bar in November 2010. It is located in a side street near the Altermarkt. It was a Sunday evening and the only other customers were seated inside the door. Dance music was being played fairly loud and there was a TV on with the sound off showing a basketball game. I can never understand why bars do this type of thing. There were four of us and I tried to go to a table that was as far away as possible from the TV, but the barman was having none of it and informed us that the part of the pub was "closed". So we were forced to sit near the TV at a table covered with graffiti including some fairly lewd art work! We had a couple of beers and left.

This place tries to be "cool", and it may indeed have the best range of beers in Koln, but I would not return to it.

Great beers and great service. The ambiance and quality overall leaves something to be desired, and I would have been happier if there was food available (though the bartender did encourage us to go across the street to a rival establishment to acquire fries and then bring them back).

I walked out of the Bier Museum after having had five different beers: Diebels Alt; Kulmbacher EKU 28 Doppelbock; Kulmbacher Reichelbrau Eisbock; Einbecker Urbock; Flensburger Pilsener.

If you live in Koln, I imagine there are better places to go. If you're just visiting, it's not a bad stop to make in order to try a variety of German brews.

Its a fairly cool beer bar.

I actually didnt see the museum. I found this place while wandering in the Altstadt a week or so ago.

When I was there the atmosphere like much like a two floor night club with out dancing. The music downstairs was loud and people were having a ton of fun. Upstairs is a little more relaxed. Tables are everywhere and patrons are encouraged to write their names and when they were there on the tables.

The establishment has a small selection of bottles and 18 beers on tap (as the name of the place so proudly implies). Some taps are world reknown beers while others (I still cant believe I saw this) are extremely mediocre, i.e. ANHEISER-BUSCH BUDWEISER. But they had two Grimbergen taps when I was there so I guess the place can be forgiven.

Service was good. Two waiters take drink orders for the top floor and two or three girls work the taps downstairs. One doesnt have to wait long for a beer or for an open bartender, and this was when the place was full. Menus are written in english, german, and french together.

Spent a rowdy night here a few years back drinking beer and singing along with the locals to all the american songs being played. It was a great night, but probably once in a lifetime. The most popular song that night was "Country Road" by John Denver.
