275ml bottle from 1993, best before date of 12/31/94.

Cracked the cap with zero hiss, and the beer poured quite clear dark, amber with the exception of chunked sediment at the end. An exaggerated pour coaxed out a surface coat of large, soapy bubbles.

Aromatics lead off with cognac, toffee, figs, leather, caramel, and chewy malt. Hints of tobacco and port follow through.

Medium bodied with a slick, tacky mouthfeel. Oily and flat.

Plump, ripe malt soaked in cognac starts the palate. Chipped toffee, dusty leather, dried figs, and a caramel reduction follow through.

Finishes with dark fruit, booze, and sweet malt.

For a flat beer, this one has help up really well. The nose is remarkably complex and there's no wet paper or carboard-like oxidation to be found.
Very nice for an 18 year old. (802 characters)
