Notes/Commercial Description:
Brockton IPA is a celebration of our 25th anniversary. Brewed in the style of a Pacific Northwest India Pale Ale, this refreshing IPA is golden coloured and well hopped. It’s destined to become a highlight of this great city, just like its namesake in Stanley Park.

Another warrior holding ground in the current Granville Island "tap takeover" at Beer Revolution. Quite a light color for the style, a golden amber hue with about an inch or so of white foam. Aroma is notably grassy, weedy, and herbal, with some co-occurring powered sugar and citrus rind to provide a modicum of balance. Palate was again quite green and bitter, with mellow grapefruit rind, nondescript tropical fruit, lemon, gooseberry, assertive catty pine sap, dill pickle, green tomato, and apple pomace detectable to varying degrees. The dank, almost rank sap, weed and green vegetable hop flavors are center stage. There is some toasty malt in the background along with a cardboard-type oxidized off-flavor that thankfully is not overpowering. Dry and fizzy, with a flinty earthy finish. The hops flavors are interesting here and rather hard to describe verbally. The whole package tastes like an earthy tomato garden drizzled with pine needles and citrus peels. Enjoyable for Cascade fans and those who enjoy bitter medicinal resin flavors unencumbered by too much sweetness. Reminds me of Wild Rose IPA although I prefer the latter.

On tap at the brewery. Pours orange with white head and lively carbonation. Aroma is of citrusy hops, biscuit malt and ripe fruit. Body is full and crisp. Taste is of citrusy hops, biscuit malt, hints of caramel and fruit. Finish is long and bitter. Good IPA among, many other.

A deep golden, caramel colored ale topped with a rather thin ivory head. Aroma is weak with some caramel and semi-dank, piney Pacific northwest hops. Tastes are balanced with plenty of caramel and bready malt coupled with pine and pungent grapefruit rind. Mouth is medium and creamy with lingering bitterness. Overall, not a palate punisher, but I did appreciate its balanced flavors.

My parents brought this back from Vancouver, British Columbia for me.

Appearance- copper color, almost no head, decent lacing

Smell- hops, malt, more on the malty side

Taste- some hops, more on the malty side but still pretty well balanced

Mouthfeel- medium bodied

Drinkability- I thought it was an ok IPA. I have definitely had way better but it was still ok.

341ml bottle poured into a pint glass. ABV 6%.

A - Poured a clear golden copper with a thick white head, head reduce to surface, decent lacing is produced.

S - Caramel, citrus (orange peel and lemon in particular) , some grass. I found the nose on the malty side.

T - Caramel sweetness, fruits (orange and a hint of pumpkin), bitter finish follows into the aftertaste. As it warms there's a slight metallic taste to it.

M - Medium carbonation, medium body, sticky, mostly dry finish.

O - Certainly an approachable IPA but not a stand out for the style.

My store had one last 6 pack of Brockton IPA in cans that nobody has been wanting to buy, so I thought fuck it and bought it just to make shelf space.

I grabbed my Heineken glass to pour it into. It pours a beautiful orange colour, pretty much as orange as it can be without being brown. Nice head with a great aroma. It smells of summer fruits like apricot and some nice hoppy notes. The taste is not as hoppy as some of the craftier IPAs out there (as I would expect from Granville Island Brewery), but is still very pleasant. The taste is very light for the style but still has some sweet malt notes and again, fruit, with a moderate amount of carbonation. Overall I love this beer, and it must be my favourite of the GIB bunch, even in cans. This is flavourful enough to introduce to someone as a nice, inexpensive craft beer, and yet is mild enough that it leaves a lot of room for introduction to more intense beers like impIPAs and some of the heavier porters out there. As it stands, I`ll certainly buy this again.
