This place has everything you may want. They had several Stone brews, Dogfish Head brew, Three Floyds brews, on and on and on. Lots of stuff is stored in coolers, others had not quite made it there yet. It is located on the corner of Grape and Edison, not too far from the Mishawaka Brewing Company. Service was very good. I had a younger guy helping me out. He was able to pull out everything I asked for. Specificly, Great Lakes Edmond Fitzgerald Porter. It looked like they had a bunch of wine and high end spirits.

A must stop.

Q: This place looks a little run-down, but it's got some things going for it. They try to put a little too much in not enough space, but for their selection I guess that is ok.

Svc: I was impressed with both the guys asking people if they needed help and the knowledge of the employees. I felt that they knew what they were talking about and enjoyed talking about beer.

S: There is a pretty good selection here, all things considered. They are a lot closer to some of the Indiana brewers as well as Michigan, so they get most of what's to offer. There national micro selection is also good. Belgians are decent, but not great.

V: Overall, the pricing is reasonable on most things, slightly high on others. I got the Ayinger Weizenbock and Burton Baton 4pk, both for reasonable prices.

I go here when I'm in town once or twice annually. It's worth the stop if you are in the South Bend area....their sister store is the only store that is better in my opinion. They'll actually tell you that, too.

This is my go to beer store. They have a great selection of micros and imports. Pat is very passionate about craft beer and very knowledgeable. He is eager to help you find something.

Most of the guys on hand love getting people to try new beers, so they have been known to give out samples.

They are always aware of new stock. Even hiding some of it for us regulars. Very rarily have I missed out on a big release.

Prices are on par with anywhere else. I can't reccomend Citywide on grape enough..

So, was at an ND game, stayed at our buddy's place about half a mile from here. Jealous. very nice selection, and good stuff at that. Picked up a bunch of Stone I've been missing, Weihestephaners i don't see often at home, and there was also some Allagash, Great Divide, Three Floyds, Unibroue, lots of other Belgians, a nice English selection, lots o micros, lots of stuff i do'nt get at home that I'll be glad to pick up next time i visit. Didnt ask for any help, and though neither young employee guy or who was likely owner seemed too happy to check me out, seemed aware of things and ready.

Hands down the best place to get good beer in Michiana. Went in today and found a couple of Stone offerings, lots of Rogue (though no Shakespeare), lots of Bells, a couple from Three Floyds (I paid dearly for a 22oz Dreadnaught, but totally worth it), full line of Unibroue, decent Belgian and German selections, Great Divide Yeti, and more. Prices were not great, but this is the only place around that you can find many of these brews. My go-to store in the area. I looked around the store by myself and didn't ask for assistance, so I can't speak to the staff's beer knowledge. Highly recommended. On Grape and Edison, right by the newly relocated Star of India, which is also highly recommended.

City wide is a great place to go if you want to find a beer that you can't find anywhere else in south bend. they have a very large selection at both room temperature and in cold cases, as well as in a cold room that you can ask to go into. Lots of single bottles and six packs you can browse through.

The staff seem to have their areas of speciality. Some of them can go on and on about wine, others about beer. They are all very helpful and knowledgeable.

The beer here seems to trend a bit more expensive than elsewhere, although they often have specials that offset the markups and sometimes you can even find a really good deal.

This is also the place to go if you want to buy a case of something other than miller light or bud. they have a good selection of cases, cans and bottles.

And if 40s are your thing, they seem to be able to handle that as well, with a wide selection ranging from old standards (O.E.) to those designed for a more specialized pallette (King Cobra).

All in all, i'm glad its in town and i frequent it when i get over that way.

i'm going to add one thing to this review just now...they also have a wine room that i didn't know was open to the public, and back there they keep all the good stuff....trappist brews, highly sought after dogfish, etc. very cool.

10/25/05 edit....this place has gone way downhill...there has been a lot of staff rotation as well...my all time favorite beer store employee is gone...he was simply known as "my south bend beer guy"....full of reccomendations, willing to order anything he could for me. its just not the same and the belmont beverages are doing better(all belmont's are not created equally by the way, you must visit them all). When I'm in town for ND football games, i will be looking at other places

---

this quickly became my regular stop for craft brews in the south bend area. There are 4 different locations. I have visited this one and the one downtown on Jefferson and liked the Grape Road version better.

the service is by far the best i have seen, especially when compared to local chain Belmont Beverage. Within a minute or so of walking in you will be tended to and they are very helpful and in the know.

the selection is the best i have seen in the area. They carry the complete line of Bells(expedition, kalamazoo, oberon, java, third coast, third coast old ale, two hearted, amber, pale, dopplebock, best brown, etc). They literally have them all. If you dont see them in the cooler dont despair because they are in the back. healthy selection of other local favorites as well (great lakes, new holland, three floyds, goose island, mishawaka, uplands, arcadia, founders). Good selection of belgians and always some interesting bombers(great divide oak aged yeti, great divide old ruffian, stone epic, etc). Most usual suspects are around too like the stone line, most rogues, lost coast, anderson valley, etc

i am soon to leave south bend for the beer mecca of madison but will always find time for this place when in town

It is just a short drive from Notre Dame campus and I was very impressed with the selection. They had beers from all over the world and in many various styles. I was lucky enough to run into the owner on my trip and he allowed me into the back cooler to pick up some Entire butt porter that had just come in and wasnt marked for sale yet. The staff was extremely helpful and the beer appeared to be kept well. There is also a good selection of wines and spirits and the staff was knowledgable in that as well. It comes very highly reccommended.
