Faxe Amber 5,2% is a well-balanced lager made from the best barley malts and bittering hops!

Faxe Amber has a generous golden colour and a full and rich taste characterized by a slight sweetness and pleasantly bitter touch.
It is an extraordinary round lager experience, with the fine notes of malt in focus. Especially the use of roasted malt gives character to Faxe Amber, with its golden colour as well as the slight sweetness and bitterness of the hops.

If there is ever a CANQuest (tm) Hall of Foam, then I think that my local, in-person trader, @tone77 should be in the first class of inductees. He brings CANs from his myriad travels for inclusion in The CANQuest (tm) & is a great guy.

From the CAN: "Faxe Brewery Denmark ESTd 1901"; "Quality Amber Beer".

I am assuming that this is a) a Lager & b) that it is an Amber (Lager). Why? The site's Style Guide indicates that these beers will eventually be merged into/with other Lager styles as already established. Amber Lager? Piece o' cake! I am all for them!

I beCAN by Crack!ing open the vent & starting a slow, gentle Glug into the awaiting glass. I was rewarded with/by the formation of just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with very good retention. Color was Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-plus quality clarity, allowing me to peer into my checkered past. Linda Lou was a gorgeous redhead (we looked like relatives) with thick, wiry hair that looked like rusty cable or wire. I called her "Rusty", much to her amusement, but when I made like a penguin & tried to give her a shiny pebble, she balked & married someone else! 8=( This beer was the color of her hair, in case you wondered where this was going. Nose had a caramel nuttiness, like caramel-enrobed peCANs or almonds. Mmm. Mouthfeel was kind of light, not exactly thin and/or watery, but not far past it, either. the taste had a real nuttiness, more like an amalgam of nuts (think nut butter spread) than one particular nut. Mmm. Why is this beer rated so Poorly?!? Finish was semi-sweet, slightly bready, but definitely worth my while. I know that my scores are going to mark me as a high outlier, but gaff me off at your own risk. You CAN thanke me later & that's a Faxe, Jack!

Poured from a 16.9 oz. can. Has a bronze color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of bready malts. Taste is bready malts, green apples, a hint of sweetness, light grains. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall is a mediocre beer, as expected at this price point.

500ml can - always, er, 'nice', when they specify that they've used corn in the malt bill, right there on the label.

This beer pours a clear, bright medium copper amber colour, with two fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and fizzy tan head, which leaves a bit of just-uncovered lost desert city lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of bready and doughy caramel malt, overripe red apples, corn cakes, and very plain leafy, musty, and dead grassy hop bitters. The taste is grainy and corny malt (not particularly caramelized), muddled pome fruity esters, a bit of wayward son yeast, and more very underwhelming leafy, weedy, and blandly floral hoppiness.

The bubbles are pretty inert, barely manifesting in a wan and put-upon frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and sort of smooth, a growing pithiness not serving us well here. It finishes fairly off-dry, the mixed malt still not trying all that hard to do us any favours.

Yeah, another bland amber lager, this time of European extraction, that mimics that typical shit that we see across the North American beer plain - somewhat sweet, but from inferior ingredients, which eventually just make you want to scrape your tongue, and reset your better beer senses. Nope.
