Deep in the darkest depths of Rock Lake dwells a great saurian known today as Rocky. The legend of Rocky is old. The ancient inhabitants of Aztalan warned of the beast by building a giant serpent mound at the lake's edge. The early residents of Lake Mills were forewarned of a guardian placed in its lake to protect its sacred stone tepees. And history tells of numerous encounters with Rocky, who became a source of great worry and fear. Although not seen for over a century, divers still experience a feeling of dread and being watched. Enjoy Rocky's Revenge, our offering to this legendary protector of Tyranena.

A - Very clear muddy red brown in color. Okay head with good lacing. No trace of carbonation.

S - Very sweet malts that are highly pleasing for a brown ale. Just a hint of intrusive bourbon that adds to the sweetness. Not much wood or charred aroma and no hop presence.

T - Very bold and robust for a 6% beer. Starts off semi-sweet from the brown ale but then the bourbon blends in very softly and adds another dimension of complexity. Sweet vanilla flavors can be detected, pseudo toasted coconut and caramel detected by my palate. Very nice.

M/O - Body is a little light for me but carbonation is done well. Clears from the palate sort of quickly but leaves a dim bourbon flavor. Very easy to drink and a light sipper. I paid $2 for a 12oz bottle and hard to find something else as good for that price.

Gifted a single, didn't want to pass up a review opp. No visible dates on the bottle or ABV listing.

L -- Clear, deep bronze with a firm tan head that settles slow and leaves good lacing.

S -- Earthy malts, light bourbon note, toffee back.

T -- Earthy malts up front. Touch of toffee. Herbal hops mid-palate. More toffee with bourbon notes in the finish. Semi-hot alcohol in the aftertaste, but not overwhelming. The alcohol lingers in the aftertaste in a very shot of sipping bourbon-like character, but not a hammer hit.

F -- Mouthfeel is smooth to dry with a light-robust body.

O -- Less complex than I expected and very drinkable, if not a one-and-done sample.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours deep red with a small light brown head. Smells of bright grain with some fruit notes. Tastes of deep caramelized grain with fresh nuttiness and some bourbon. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Pours out of the bottle a deep reddish brown with two fingers of head with good retention and some lacing. Smells like toasted malt, slight hint of bourbon, and bread. Tastes like a clean crisp brown ale should with a little bourbon backbone. Very well done with the carbonation as well. I quite liked it

Scrappy notes from 2013.
Fresh 6pack of 12 ounce bottles.
It has the color of cola or a bit lighter. Tan head. Has a decent scent of bourbon, oak wood and vanilla. It tastes fairly deep and roasty with most of the same elements in the smell. There's some nutty chocolate booze and it's a little bit sweet. I'd call it full flavored. It dries out my tongue a bit but it's not parching. Good balanced taste and a bit filling but I'll gladly have two. Very good beers from Tyranena.

Poured from 12-ounce bottle into a "snulip" glass. Light reddish-brown colored body, with a reddish-orange highlight and a thick light tan head. Good retention, with some streaky lacing. This has complexity as well as drinkability. Rife with a slightly understated bourbon barrel character. It's there and it's quite pleasant, but it doesn't overpower. Light roasty bitterness on the palate. It's medium bodied, with good carbonation, making for an exceptionally easy drinking brew. Finish is clean, with a touch of sour apple tartness hanging around for a moment or two. Well done and highly recommended.

This is a 12oz. bottle poured into a Tyranena pint glass. For starters we have one finger of tan foam that slowly recedes to a thin cap with a trace of lacing left behind. The ale is a dark cola but held up to the light I can watch the light carbonation ascend to the top of the glass..
The aroma is light vanilla malts, a little oak, and a hint of coffee.
The taste is vanilla sweetness, then the dry oak flavor takes over, very nicely, the bourbon is there, with no alcohol bite, just a nice mild flavor. The oak is what does it for me, very nice!
The mouthfeel is medium, making this easy to sample a few, with a moderate ABV of 6 that is a plus for me. I can sample these for several hours, enjoying every sip!

What a phenomenal beer! Thick off white head, perfect carbonation, delicate caramel malt aroma, and very rich flavor. I can easily detect the bourbon and vanilla flavor notes, it’s a very malty beer and quite filling.

12 oz bottle poured into a sort of tulip glass. Looks like a normal brown ale with a rocky off-white head. Aroma and flavor feature bourbon, vanilla, caramel, and dark roasty malts with some coffee and butterscotch. Mouthfeel is average carbonation. Overall it's a tasty BBA brown ale at a great price point.
