Secured this on a recent jaunt to Wisconsin.

A relatively hard pour gave this one a about an inch of wet-sand head that fell after about 5 minutes. Nice sticky lacing. The beer itself is what one would expect from the style: deep brown, almost black, with just a touch of red at the edge.

Smell of bark and some chocolate with a little coffee. I was expecting to have more coffee in the nose. There is some there, but it isn't as pronouced as I would have hoped.

The taste. Oh the taste. Wonderful. This is a prime example of the style. The oatmeal and chocolate and coffee merge together and fall over each other on repeated sips.

The mouthfeel was wonderfully slick. The oatmeal doing what it does best. The carbonation was near perfect.

No ABV was listed, but there was a definite alcohol warming as I drained it. I would have this again and again if it were readily available.

This is my favorite porter. Anchor, Rogue, O'Fallon, and Summitt need to take heed. The gauntlet on the style has been laid. At least it has for this beer drinker. If you like adventurous beers, The Devil Made Me Do It is an experience you shouldn't miss.

The Devil made me do it pours a black color with a small, but long lasting and lacing head. There is a huge rich, and creamy coffee aroma. The taste has a nice bold coffee flavor, but is very creamy and has a nice oatmeal flavor. Very drinkable, good flavors, just the smallest bit watery. Overall a very rich and creamy coffee beer.

L - rigorous pour reveals a syrupy dark brown ale topped with a thinner tan head
S - rich aroma of coffee, chocolate, oats, roasted barley
T - coffee, chocolate, oats, roasty, very rich, caramel
F - super creamy, full body, easy to drink
O - excellent beer, but it does remind me of a certain other popular coffee chocolate oatmeal stout. This is very good nonetheless.
