It pours a deep, dark black with a smallish head as you might expect from an Oatmeal Porter. There's nothing I like better than giving a freshly poured beer a good whiff after a perfect pour and this one is VERY nice...coffee and cream come to mind, not overpowering, but just right. Perhaps a bit hoppier than what I was expecting, but it's all good!

The taste is what you might expect, a darkly sweet flavor with a very rich coffee undertone. As others have said, the coffee is not the forefront, but certainly is not a backseat passenger. Sweet, malty aftertaste finishes this one off.

The feel in the mouth is very smooth from the oatmeal, a touch of carbonation, but not too much to still be called a porter.

I think what I like best about the beer is the smooth, creamy mouth feel from the oatmeal combined with the rich coffee flavor finished off with a malty sweetness, like you had just one cube in your morning coffee.

Try it while it's abundant, you won't be disappointed!

Pours into my snifter an imposing obsidian with a thick brown head. Crown slowly descends to a thin soap skim with a ring around the glass.

Strong aroma of fresh coffee with hints of vanilla, strawberries, cane sugar, and just a touch of hazelnut.

Tastes like a very nice cup of coffee sweetened with stevia. Fruity center, sweet and wet on the palate with a nice chocolate/coffee/oatmeal bitter finish that lingers and lingers. Very bitter after feel/taste. Superb feel. Light bodied, almost tangy with a carbonation bite that can’t be beaten. Trace amounts of booze. Feels pretty strong but the ABV is well hidden for the most part.

Through and through a fine beer and a great addition to the Brewer’s Gone Wild Series.

Picked this up on my Steve's Liquors "make a 6" extravaganza the last time I visited Madison.

A: Almost black. Some small carbonation bubbles sticking to the sides of the glass. Pretty dense stuff. A little ruby red coming through on the edges against the light. Delivered a small tan colored, bubbly head. No lacing to speak of.

S: Some porter sourness and graininess. Just not getting a read on much coffee. As it warmed up, there is a little more coffee and dark fruit but still pretty subtle.

T: First taste was a subtle grainy flavor, followed by a substantial coffee, possibly a little hop and that takes you into a very bitter coffee finish. The aftertaste is oaty, nutty and dry coffee with a hint of cocoa. As it warmed, I started to taste a touch of alcohol but the cocoa comes in on the finish making this just sublime.

M: Medium body. Feels nice and creamy and round. The carbonation is low but there is just enough there to keep it lively.

D: Really nice but it felt like it was missing some backbone. Beyond the nit picking though, I'd love to have more of this. I think it would grow on me even more. Very enjoyable.

12oz bottle courtesy of DaPeculiarDane during the 2nd CTA pub crawl. Pours into my glass a deep black that hardly lets any light through except for a bit of dark brown on the edges. A half inch of light tan head tops it off. Aromas rush at me with smoky, roasted coffee well in the forefront. Chocolate is present as well as some rich dark malts.

First sip brings a super smooth rush of roasted dark malts enveloped in coffee beans. Somewhat smoky with a wonderful slightly oily slickness from the oatmeal. Chocolate and light vanilla notes mix in on the way down. It finishes off slightly dry with a lingering brewed black coffee flavor. Quite a tasty brew.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth with a good steady carbonation. Rolls across the palate with ease. This is a tasty coffee porter for sure, the oatmeal adds a nice slickness. I wish I had more than this one bottle. Another tasty brew in the Brewers Gone Wild series from Tyranena. Just another reason to visit Wisconsin!!

Pure black body. Quarter inch of light brown head. Reduced to only a skim layer of bubbles though with a ring around the glass. Not really any lacing.

Aroma is strong with dark chocolate, dry coffee grounds, toffee, a little charred wood and a slightest touch of caramel.

Taste is much the same as the aroma. I wouldn't describe it any differently really except that the oatmeal "graininess"/astringincy comes out. A bit of earthy hops as well. Very nice.

Mouthfeel is fairly full. A little carbonation adds a touch of tingle on the tongue. Coats the mouthwell. Has a bit of a dry finish.

A very nice beer, no doubt. Lots of nice stouty/porter flavors. I'd love to have this more often. I like the dark charred characteristics and the coffee is in the right proportion. A must try for dark beer lovers.

Poured into a chalice at room temperature this beer left a very small head. It smells of strong coffee and oatmeal. There is still lacing after the first few sips. It tastes first of strong coffee followed by roasted malts and oatmeal. This is a great beer but I wish it was a little thicker in body. It has a clean medium carbonation and makes for a wonderful session beer. Highly recommended.

Served in a "Raise Your Pints Mississippi" snifter. Only the best for my beer!

Appearance- Dark and opaque. No light coming through it at all. Black Gold

Smell-Lots of Chocolate...backed up by a nice coffee scent....waiting a bit to let it warm up a little...to cold at the moment....

Smell Part Deux-Smells have calmed down alittle but it still is a very good dark beer which I love drinking on a winter night.

The beer is waaayyyy better than the Bowl Game I am watching.... Kent St vs Arkansas St...how is this the 2nd to last bowl game? Anyways...The beer should alwasys be better than the game!

Taste-Nice....just like the smell....nice cocoa taste finishing with coffe....little bitterness due to the coffee and cocoa. Not getting much of the Oatmeal...as it is a Imperial Oatmeal Porter. Still it is very good.

Mouthfeel- I like it....I would say its medium. Might be heavy to some. For those of you who have had FFF Baller Stout it would be a light mouth feel...but the mouthfeel suites this beer perfectly. I actually just bumped my rating of Mouthfeel up to 4.5

Overall: Would buy this beer again in an instant. Very Solid. As far as Porters go I think it is well above average.

Cheers

Bottle poured into a FFF tulip

A - Dark brown and opaque. One finger of mocha colored head settles down to foam only on the sides of the glass.

S - An amazing nose with vanilla, sweet coffee, light milk chocolate, slight hazelnut, and sweet cream. Very strong and great nose on thising his one.

T - Dark chocolate up front with slight vanilla sweetness. There is a lot of bitter and roasted coffee and malt in the finish as well as slight cream. While this is good, there is not as much flavor as I'd hope from the nose. It's actually a bit thin in the flavor profile.

MF - Light body and a bit watery. Finish is slightly astringent as the coffee rules this part.

O - This is a solid beer with an amazing nose. If it tasted like it smelled, it'd be amazing but unfortunately, it doesn't. It's also a bit too thin for my tastes. I heard some people call this a KBS killer but not even close in my opinion.

Appearance - dark, no light coming through and pours with an inch thick head. No lacing which would have given it higher rating.

Smell - coffee, coffee, coffee.... Rich bitter coffee is all over this one!

Taste - rich smooth bitter coffee. Almost a cold espresso beer and delicious.

Mouthfeel - malty rich that leaves you tongue with a iced coffee type flavor

Overall - wow is this a great coffee beer. Quite delicious. Glad I got to try this one via a trade!

(Served in a nonic)

A- This beer pours a jet black body with a thick creamy head of light tan that last for the full beer and does a bit of lacing after each sip. No sign of light or carbonation in this body.

S- The smell of cold coffee grounds is soft when the beer is cold but comes through when it is warm. There is a slight earthy note to the dark malt in the background but it is pretty light.

T- This beer has a dark roasted malt flavor with a softer coffee ground flavor followed by a light hint of soy sauce. There is a soft hint of wet wood and a tart earthy note to the malt.

M- This beer has a medium-light mouthfeel with a slight chewy texture.

D- This beer has some big coffee notes but I don't taste any imperial qualities, but there are some oatmeal qualities that are nice.

Looking for something sort of sweet tonight so I pulled this one out of the fridge.
Poured a very, very dark amber...almost black, with a half finger tan head that melted to a tan ring.
Aroma is all coffee to me...wonderful coffee.
Taste is much more dimensional than the aroma. Roasted dark malts, espresso type coffee, bittersweet chocolate with a bit of cream, very light citrus hops and then alcohol to finish it off.
Mouthfeel is creamy with a nice little bite from the tiny carbonation.
Aftertaste is coffee and cream with the alcohol warmth filling your torso. Reminds me a lot of a coffee/liquor afterdinner drink, like Irish Coffee or Coffee and Baileys.
Nice.

Tyranena- The Devil Made Me Do It.

A- Deep dark brownish black with a small tan head. Sticky light lacing.
S- Heavy fudge and chocolate with heavy roasted black coffee and chocolate malt.
T- Thick sugary fudge and dark chocolate with a good heaping dose of black coffee/ espresso. Heavy sugary caramel malt with bitter chocolate. Light touch of alc.
M- Very thick and sweet. Heavy sweet malt dominates with a slight bitter coffee bean touch. Creamy body with a super sugary sweet finish. Slight touch of alc.

Overall- Amazing tasting porter thats just a tad too sweet. Very good regardless.
