Received as an extra in a trade and poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - Poured a nice dark brown nearly black hue with a thin half finger mocha head that fades to leave a thin, creamy blanket and light light lacing.

S - Aromas of creamy oats, roasted malts, darker chocolate, BIG espresso notes, lightly sweet, not really bitter on the finish.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, nice roast malts, darker chocolate, oats, BIG big bold espresso. Shocked at how much coffee is in this considering its not exactly fresh. Bitter coffee ground finish, no alcohol.

M - Mouthfeel is super smooth and creamy, faint faint alcohol burn.

O - Overall this was a very coffee forward beer. Very drinkable even though its in the middle of some summer heat.

Bottle from Discount Liquors in Milwaukee.

Served alongside the barrel-aged version.

Dark brown body with a small beige head. Lovely aroma, consisting of rich coffee, freshly ground coffee beans, bready malts, roast, chocolate - everything you'd expect from reading the label. Nice flavor. Oats and coffee play so well together. Super smooth while maintaining a bold and assertive coffee presence throughout. A fine example of a coffee porter / stout.

Black body, off-white head recedes.

Burned coffee, roasted malts.

The edges are sweet like toffee or molasses but coffee's the focus. Outside of that, nothing pops out at me. The distinct nose does help but taste is sill lacking. Hardly off-putting but hardly distinctive.

Some more density would go a long way.

Big thanks to Jeff for this one. 12oz. bottle into a Cigar City snifter.

Pours pitch black with just the thinnest mocha head that dissipates quickly. Lacing is stringy, spotty and sparse. No legs. Pretty average.

Nose is molasses, chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa and liquorice. Moderately aromatic. Good.

Opens roasted malt, chocolate and cocoa. Coffee and espresso in the middle with some molasses and more dark chocolate towards the end. Finishes roasty with a light tartness. Coffee and chocolate finish. Pretty straightforward but tasty.

Medium bodied with moderate to low carbonation. Slightly prickly but smooth in the mouth and silky going down. Messy finish with a lingering, filmy aftertaste. Solid.

A pretty middle of the road porter that... to its credit, is very quaffable. Certainly worth having and I'm glad I had the opportunity to try it.
