12oz bottle poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass.

A - Pours a perfectly clear, deep amber. Thin half finger, white head appears and disappears quickly leaving a collar around the glass and small islands of bubbles on the surface.

S - Malty, spicy, citrusy. Good amount of citrusy aromas, mainly orange and lemons and fruity hops. Malty sweetness balances this one very well.

T - Spicy and bitter. Doesn't seem to match the aroma. Bitterness is somewhat heavy and harsh, different hop profile here - not really sure what they are using. There is an unidentifiable fuitiness throughout, with citrus on top - grapefruit, orange, limes. Some bready malt in the background. The bitterness in this is really pervasive - cuts through everything and lingers a long time.

M - Mouthfeel is full - thick and chewy. Good, medium level of carbonation rounds out the fullness of this one.

D - I am definitely a hoppy IPA guy, but this one is a little rough for me. The hop profile isn't working - too harsh - not so much flavor, just heavy bitterness. The harshness makes it difficult to drink at a good pace - more of a sipper for me, but I think one of these will do it for me - onto something else.

L - deep amber/copper with a fluffy ivory head; some spotty lacing is left on the glass
S - floral hop, bread, caramel, grapefruit, pine, orange
T - orange, caramel, bread crust, faint biscuit, grapefruit, huge pine
F - fuller body, resinous and very dry overly bitter finish
O - not as good as I remembered it, but still a good IPA with a twist

Pours dark amber with a lasting off-white head. Trailing lace sticks.

The smell is of citrus - I smell orange peel - but, it's mild and not sure if it more from the power of suggestion. Caramelized grain is in the back.

The taste is of orange and grapefruit. Toasted caramel malty backbone gives a supporting sweet balance to the upfront bitterness. Pine/resin comes through in the finish. The alcohol is slightly noticeable.

It is medium-bodied, smooth with a mild (tangy?) bite.

Not sure that orange peel adds much to this, but that's fine. Overall - a solid American IPA!
