12 oz bottle, dated 20 May 06, poured into a weissen glass
Apours cloudy sunshine yellow with virtually no head, a little swirl of fizz on the top, lacing is spotty
Swheat, banana, lemon grass, mild citrus, hints of spice, very fragrant and sweet
Tsweet banana and wheat are dominate in this one, give way to grainy flavors and finishes with a banana and faint citrus after taste
Msmooth, light bodied, a little flat in the carbonation
Dgood, in fact probably great in the summer by the pool. Worth the drive to WI next summer, I think.

Poured a very cloudy golden yellow color with a big fluffy white head on top.
Smell was full of bananas with some citrus coming through as well.
Taste was very much the same and very delicious. I also picked up a bit of spice in the finish.
Mouthfeel was light-medium and very refreshing. Smooth easy to drink beer.
Overall I really loved this beer! I would love to drink it regularly. Glad that i was able to have a few of them before it ran out.
Had this on tap at the brewery a few times over the past month. Unfortunately it went too fast as they ran out last weekend with lots of summer left. Guess I'll have to wait until next year to have this delicious beer again.

I look forward to this one every summer. It seems like Tyranena may have tweaked this a little since last year. Seems just slightly muted with some of the bolder edges smoothed out. This is both good and bad. EIther way, it is quite a good weizen.
Pours a hazy, pale golden glass. White head sticks around a while before departing.
Clove and banana dominates the nose. Big even by weizen standards. Some pepper here too.
Spice is the major player on the taste buds. Clove is everywhere, with pepper and yeast adding some spice kick as well. Grass and hay float around providing earthiness and dryness. Fruitiness dances in the distance with notes of banana, lemon, and maybe some fainter notes of apple and pear.
A highlight of this is the searingly dry finish. A faint yeasty sourness is all that remains.
Obviously light bodied. Maybe just a hair on the watery side. But this one is hugely drinkable and very refreshing.
My idea of summer is a steamy day and a six pack of this.
Update 2004 batch:
A bit thinner than I recall, but not too out of place for the style. Nose is still special. Taste is mostly clove and banana with some peppery dryness around the close, along with trickles of minerality. Plenty yeasty. Backup baked apples and pears. Lacking the tart lemon from previous version. Growing grass hop accents, and not as dry-leaning as before, though still plenty so.
Still a very decent version. Score adjusted.

poured from a bottle into wheat glass. pours a tawny gold, with dense white head that disappears almost as soon as I've poured it.
smells strongly of cloves, bananas, and bubble gum.
tastes much like the aroma, cloves, banana fruitiness, bubble gum. some spiciness, and of course wheat acidity comes shining through. good mouthfeel, maybe a little thin, but I'm not complaining. very dry finish, together with acidity invites another thirst quenching drink.
very drinkable brew, nothing over the top, just a good hefe. nice and balanced all around.

A 12 oz bottle courtesy of Homerbag. Into my tulip tumbler. Pours a cloudy pale gold with a quickly receding one and a half finger head. Spots of lace.
Smell is a nice blend of lemon and wheat malt with a touch of band aid phenols and yeast esters. A hint of clove and banana.
Taste more of the nose with a stronger malt presence that tames the phenolic and adds girth to the body of the beer. The lemon is prevalent without being overbearing, malt following right behind. The clove and banana are add a subtle complexity to the finish which is smooth with little bitterness, dry and lightly crackery.
Moutfeel is somewhat effervescent and light in body. Quite pleasant and quenching.
Drinkability is easy and breezy. A good summer quencher.

Pours a clear, pale golden yellow color, scant head, which is bit surprising but what head there is sticks to the glass.
Aroma of some banana, citrus and even a faint smack of bubblegum to style.
Flavor is a dominated by watery citrus notes and some plae malt and grassy hints. Really kind of bland and watered down, no zest.
Mouthfeel was a tad too thin for style and just didn't have enough spicy, clovey kick to be a great Hefe. Not bad just not memorable.
Drinkability was above average but only just. Somehow get the feeling that this one didn't transfer to well to bottling which is always a risk with a Hefe.

Appearance - Yellow. Very cloudy. Medium height white head that quickly dissipates to a thin film.
Smell - Fairly strong grainy wheat aroma. Banana and clove. A little orange maybe.
Taste - Sweet grainy wheat with very prominent banana, clove, and a little spice. Finishes with a hint of orange. Very flavorful.
Mouthfeel - Moderate to light. Initially creamy, but with a bubbly finish.
Overall - Hefeweizens are a little cloying in general for my taste, but this is a pretty good one. Flavorful and easy drinking. And it comes from, perhaps, Wisconsin's best brewery.

clear and golden in color with a nice head of white that rose up and over the top, settling down nicely with bit of a broken head that hung around on the sides of the glass for just a little bit before fading in its entirety. Aroma was light at first but began to grow on me after a while. Smooth notes of light grain, hints of grassy notes and a light bit of bready tones are al easily picked up here now. Crisp and very clean taste. Well carbonated with a light and refreshing body that I really found to be quite enjoyable I have to admit. Rolling through it seemed to have a light fruit notes in the mid palate and a light, slightly drying kick in the finish

appearance: Head is pretty low and fizzy for a hefeweizen. The beer itself is a cloudy golden-straw.
smell: Smells like a good hefeweizen. Pleny of ripe banana notes as well as some yeastiness up front. Light citrus and mango like aromas are also present. Hops are low.
mouthfeel: Carbonation is medium high and the body is medium thin, very slightly watery.
taste: Flavors of wheat malt, light fruits, and yeast abound. Simply a good, well rounded hefeweizen flavor.
drinkability: This beer is very easy drinking, a good warm weather session beer.

A - Cloudy pale orange yellow color. Offwhite head fades to a ring. No lacing.
S - Earthy wheat and corn smell with some light citrus and yeast.
T - Taste starts off with sweet sugary yeast and citrus flavors. Taste becomes earthier and then sweeter. Finish leaves a light and sweet yeast flavor.
M - Medium consistency with very light carbonation.
D - Overall not bad, good for a hefe fix but it could be better. Nice addition to the Tyranena mixpack.

Very good beer, from a very good beer company. This is my 4th beer i have tried from these guys and not a bad one yet.
Appearance is not bad, not a lot of head or lacing, but on par with the style.
Smell and taste are very similar. A blot of banana and citrus fruit up front with teh spice of coriander at the end.
Mouthfeel is light.
Drinkability is easy sipping.

drank out of a large Hefeweizen glass.
A - Nice light sun gold with a massive sea foam head. Retention is very good and there's lacing left on the glass.
S - Aromatic banana and spicy clove with wheat and a dash of bubblegum. Some citrus, apple and floral notes.
T - Lightly spicy clove up front with a smooth bread and wheat malt profile. Banana melds with clove and a low bitterness. Finishes lightly spicy some of the floral notes.
M - Light and refreshing body with high carbonation.
O - Nice summer drink to refresh and enjoy. Really had a nice flavor.

Turbid dark straw hue. Head recedes into a pitted, frothy layer that yields loose lace. Vibrant wafts of citric tartness and musty banana bread dominate the aroma. Mild notes of sourdough and toasted grain arise as the beer warms. Understated and appetizing aromawise. In flavor, upfront is a combination of grainy wheat sweetness and nutty suspended yeast. Toasted malt and green banana hints ensue mid palate. Only trace clove and bubblegum esters. Viscous in mouthfeel, yet soft and nearly airy on the palate. Note of fermented lemon surface late. Finishes with an herbal phenol kiss, but otherwise with fleeting notes of soft banana. A very solid hefeweizen. Perhaps a touch undercarbonated an shy on clove phenols for my tastes, but overall dead on. I'd love to try this at the source, but the delivery from Bighuge is as close as I'll get. Superb drinkability.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a St. Bernardus chalice. Thanks to neubernie for the hook-up!
Bottled on: 13 May 08
A: Pours an unfiltered, hazy, golden straw color. Unfortunately, a vigorous pour did not result in any type of head or accompanying lace. This sucker was not flat either!
S: Characteristic yeasty aromas of banana, clove, bubble gum, and tangy citrus. Nice bready, toasted malt and wheat aromas as well.
T: Great yeasty flavors. Banana, bubble gum, and clove. Adding a nice counterpoint is the tart/tangy citrus flavors that are there, lurking just below the surface. Toasted wheat and banana nut bread flavors add just the right amount of chewyness
M: Tangy citrus and spicy yeast make for a slightly peppery/prickly mouthfeel. This also alternates between toasty, dry, sweet, and oily.
D: Other than the head issue, this was a very nice and enjoyable Hefewiezen. I have a few more bottles from the same batch and I'll be "testing" those for head and lace problems.

Pours a traditional hazy yellow with a rocky head. Nose is banana clove - wow - very traditional.
First taste has acidic bite of a fine german hefe, bana and clove are prevelant. A nice quencher. Hits the style quite well with a citric bite, banana and clove flavors, no bitterness.
This is a great summer drinking beer.
Taste it blind versus some fine german hefe's and you may be suprised.

Pours a clear, pale golden color, with minimal head, but fair lacing. Smells like bubblegum, bananas, all kinds of sweet fruits, with a spiced kick. Tastes much of bubblegum and banana. Mouthfeel is thick, but light, with the carbonation tickling your palate. Very easy to drink. Haven't had many hefes, so this review certainly isn't to style, but I like this beer.

Its a summer like day here today so i figured i'd see what summer beers remained in my fridge. Found this one, think its been sitting there since last summer... Think this is the only hefe ive tried. Will have to try more next summer.
Had to work to get the yeast out, guess it had been sitting a while. Its a hazy golden straw coloured ale. This white head formed on the pour. Essentially no lacings, and finely carbonated.
Nice nose on this. Lemon, clove, banana, and some wheatty nuttiness.
Yummy, nutty whole wheat bready flavour from the grains. Nice spicey and fruity yeast flavours of mild clove and a touch of banana that lingers on the finish. Mild lemony earthiness further enhances this beer.
This medium bodied brew has a nice full and fuzzy mouthfeel, from the yeasty clove notes and the fine carbonation. Theres a nice balance on flavour here, the wheat and barley and nicely complimented by the flavourful yeast and touch of earthy hops.
This is a nice, refreshing beer, great quencher for those hot summer days, which are now behind most of us. Would make for a nice session brew on a hot summer's day. May make crossover fare for certain audiences (must like clove).
Ill be seeking this and other examples of the style out more next summer...

12 ounce bottle. Cloudy pineapple juice color. There was a large yeast deposit at the bottom of the bottle. The head is not very large. Aroma is lemony with banana and cloves. The flavor is a wheat body with lots of fruit, like lemon, orange, and banana. No hop flavor. The mouthfeel is full for the style. Very flavorful - this is how I like my hefes. Drinkability is high too. This is a fantastic summer brew, and now one of my favorites from Tyranena.

Poured into a weizen glass this has a hazy, bright orange head with pillowy head that retains as a lacing ring.
Smell is strong of wheat, clove, and banana. Interesting yeast aroma adds to the overall good experience. Taste is refreshing with the clove taking a background to the banana, wheat, and yeasty tones that are very well balanced.
A good true to form hefe.
