A mixture of all those amber, orange and copper colors, hits a 1/2" white head, average retention. The aroma was grassy, bready, the rye wasn't huge but not absolutely missing either.

The bitterness is substantial here. The rye is totally coming out more and more here. The hopping isn't the most flavorful, but it still makes for a neat beer at a great price.

Enjoyed in a pint glass

Thanks to Ungertaker for this awesome inclusion in our trade

A: pours a medium brown and amber color that is very hazy and pours with a little less than a finger of light tan head that dissipates quickly, leaves a decent amount of lacing
S: very nice scents of toffee and bourbon, not a heavy stinging bourbon but warm and smooth
T: hmm, i was really expecting it to be harsh and heavy but it is astoundingly light, smooth, and with just the perfect amount of bourbon in the finish, starts with a nice warm hopiness and something else i cant quite finish and then middle to end is smooth bourbon and possibly smoked wood
M: very gentle carbonation tingle, incredibly smooth, leaves the mouth feeling silky, just the tiniest amount of burn from the bourbon to remind you its there
O: a really great brew, very excited to try the rest of their brewers gone wild line, smooth brew

Served in a tumbler.

Another random single find at Binny's. I'll take it. It pours a slightly hazy amber-copper topped by a finger of relatively short-lived slightly off-white foam. The nose comprises a stark dichotomy of grapefruit and orange peel and some powerful caramel and rye bread. A few sprinkles of black pepper float around in the background. The taste brings the pepper and rye spice more to the fore, while also shifting the citrus fruits to their peels. Bitter and spicy, exactly what the name implies. The body is a rather light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a kinda dry finish. Overall, a pretty nice RIPA, nothing overtly spectacular, but plenty tasty and enjoyable nonetheless.

Fourth brew drank during the Twelve IP-ays of Christmas

A- One fingered head on top of a cloudy copper body with sediment abound. Decent lacing but nothing crazy.

S- Caramel malt. Some citrus. Faint rye.

T- "Pine resin". Bitter hops with a sweet rye flavored aftertaste.

M- Mid to thicker body for the style. Syrupy but pleasant.

D/O- What a delicious brew! A different take on the IPA style. Bring this one back Tyranena! Thanks PTMcB

Reviewed from notes.

Pours a nice copper color. Lots of citrus, rye, and caramel. Great hop notes all around. The taste is a bit of bread and spicy rye. All this underneath a very nice citrus hop presence. Good body with some zest. With this and others, I'm really disappointed I left Chicago right as Tyranena was coming in.

Picked up this bottle at Discount Liquor in Milwaukee.

A - pours a faint copper with a 1/2 finger head that dissipates pretty quickly

S - there is a dominant caramel malt that has a lot of grain to it from the rye; there is also a bunch of grapefruit hops, which was expected given the style.

T - the taste follows the nose. Starts off very malty with caramel being predominant; the rye adds a spicy and grainy subtlety that tones down the potential for this to be a sweet IPA. The malts transition to a grapefruity hopiness. Nice balance and taste.

M - creamy smoothness with a full body

D - this is a really good beer. A nice combination of the rye and IPA styles. I only got one bottle of this, but would definitely buy more if I lived in Wisconsin.

Got this via trade. 12 oz. bottle into a standard pint glass. An aggressive pour yields a reddish-copper with a one-inch head which quickly dissapates into a creamy coating and minimal sticky lacing. Nose reveals the expected rye, some floral and earthy notes as well as some sweeter ones of citrus and brown sugar. The taste is some citrus, spice (peppery), caramel and rye. The finish is dry and mildly bitter but its the rys and pepper that pervades. Mouthfeel is medium, a little slick and oily and with light to medium carbonation. This is a respectable IPA that isn't like every other, but not one I would fight to get again.

A: Pours a chill-hazed amber with a small head. Light lacing.

S: Caramel and toffee with light hops and spice.

T: Superbly balanced. Smooth caramel malt taste with spicy notes from the rye. Floral hops quickly intervene to balance the sweetness.

M: Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth and soft.

D: Quite tasty and a pleasure to drink. Recommended.

Copper and orange pour. Average head and retention, white colored for the most part. Aroma was grassy. A degree of citrus hop aroma, with some of the spice.

Aroma is similar to the taste. Very bitter, the rye is very pronounced, heaviest rye mouthfeel I've come across. Not just a rye in name, its all up in this mug. Hops and rye big time. Malt (non rye) bill feels a little amped up, but just brings the beer to the balanced region, hops and rye still dominate.

$7.99 a 4 pack variety for these brewer's series = phenomenal.
