Pours a crystal clear burnt orange color with a minimal off-white head that soon settles into a ring of soapy froth around the periphery. Huge pumpkin spice notes are evident in the nose, featuring cinnamon and nutmeg, as well as a present caramel sweetness.

Unfortunately, the taste doesn't quite live up to the pleasing aroma. The sweetness is cloying and disjointed from the spices, and the body is too thin to provide a suitable substrate for either. There's also a surprising amount of alcohol on the back end, along with a rote, resinous bitterness. The carbonation lends a creamy quality that's pleasant, but that's about the most positive thing I can say about this beer.

I have a fair amount of respect for Tyranena, but this is not one of their better offerings. On the whole, it comes off as something of a naive and unwieldy attempt at the style--sugar and spice, but not so much nice, unfortunately.

12 oz. bottle poured into pint glass.

A: Cloudy orange/brown liquid. Thick light brown head that lasts for a long while. Looks kind of like apple cider.

S: Smells like a creamy pumpkin pie....very very nice. Lots of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a touch of ginger.

T: The pumpkin is a bit more toned-down in the taste. The pumpkin is very apparent up front, but it gives way to cinnamon and nutmeg. There is also a strong malt taste near the end of the drink, too. The amber ale really shines through. The pumpkin spices accompany the beer taste instead of completely overpowering it.

M: Really, REALLY smooth. Medium body....goes down way too easy for a 7.5% beer.

O: My second favorite pumpkin beer (behind the all-mighty Whole Hog.) This one is kind of a like a pumpkin/amber ale shandy. The beer comes through a lot more than other pumpkin beers, which I consider a good thing. This beer is a perfect beer for crisp, cool, clear autumn nights.

A: Pours a clear amber-red with little head and less lacing. A few lazy bubbles are visible.

S: Somewhat faint, but what is there is a clean pumpkin-and-spice aroma.

T: Smooth pumpkin, a bit of warm spices and alcohol. Finish carries some malt sweetness.

M: Smooth and crisp, perfectly complimenting the flavors.

O: The halfway point between pumpkin fan and pumpkin skeptic: strongly presents spice and gourd flavors, but balanced by the classic beer malts. An satisfying autumn beer that would be good even in the middle of winter.

Ahh Painted Ladies season! Had this two years ago and loved it, then last year it did not show up in my market.... I guess when you are only 2 hours from a brewery you can not expect to get there basic seasonals....

Pours a light amberish orange color nice lacing. Half finger of off white head. Frankly it is one of the most "glowing" beers I have ever seen, really good looking stuff.

Smell is pumpkin pie, cinnamon, allspice, ginger, nutmeg, light cracker like malt.

Taste is more of the same, allspice, ginger, nutmeg, light malt presence... My one gripe is that they went way overboard on the cinnamon. It is almost like it could get caught in your throat and make you cough. finishes spicy.

Mouthfeel is medium full, you can tell the pumpkin really amped up the body in this one, really coating and nice. Lowish carbonation, works nice with the style.

This remains a top Pumpkin beer for me. It is no Whole Hog Pumpkin Ale but I will be damned if it isn't delicious!

12 oz. bottle, no bottled on date, but I am assuming this is the 2012 fall release of this beer. Bought the last bottle of this as a single at my local beer store. Excited to try it, my third beer from Tyranena Brewing Co., and I have been impressed by them in the past.

Poured into a Firestone Walker pint glass.

A - Fairly aggressive pour yields about a half finger of fizzing bubbly khaki head, which fades away quickly. Body is a ruby chestnut brown type color.

S - Smell is comprised of warm creamy pumpkin pie. Can smell the cinnamon. Faint nutmeg & cloves. Whiff of the allspice, but faint. Even a bit of vanilla. The spices seem to be somewhat muted, maybe they have faded some, but they are still in there. Gets me in the mood for Halloween; I love pumpkin beers.

T - Wow, what a smooth beer. Very roasty malts seem to dominate here, with some subdued pumpkin & spices gathered in the background. Cinnamon comes through the most out of all the spices. Was hoping for a lot more pumpkin presence here, but this is an interesting take on the style. Malty, bready, and even sweet in the finish.

M - Feel is sticky, somewhat bitter. Creamy & smooth. Nicely bodied & with nice carbonation.

Overall, something of a pleasant surprise. I always love trying out new pumpkin beers, and they are definitely one of my favorite styles. While this is definitely not the best of the bunch that I've had, it is an interesting take on the style. Looking forward to more by Tyranena.

Pours a clearish, pale copper brown. The head is a finger thick and mostly offwhite. It's got good retention, a variety of different sized bubbles, and leaves a sticky lace. Higher points for less clarity.

Mostly malt and seasonal spices like cinnamon, all spice and cloves. Not really a pumpkin scent, more pumpkin spice than anything, but regardless, I'll take it.

Taste follows the lead of the smell. A good malt backbone for the different Autumn spices to work from.

Very creamy feel, surprising given all the spices. Unexpectedly smooth. Lots of spice, some malty sweetness. No real hop presence, but faint bitterness from the spice. No carbonation, no crispness, instead a nice sticky finish. A bit of alcohol heat deep in the swallow.

Overall this is one of my favorite pumpkin beers. Easy to drink, alcohol is moderate to taste and feel, but will sneak up on you. I like it.

Body is a dark amber shade capped with a fluffy white head that settles into a foamy mass similar to a pint of Guinness. Good retention and great overall appearance. Aroma carries bold spices: heavy on nutmeg, with cinnamon, cloves and ginger, as well as some sweet amber malt in the background.

As in aroma, the flavor is very spice dominant and the pumpkin pretty subtle. Definitely on the sweeter side, but not sickeningly so like some pumpkin beers. Malt is not very distinctive, but holds things together nicely. Mouthfeel is full and sticky, drying out toward the finish leaving lingering woody spice. Carbonation is medium to heavy, but not excessive.

The pethora of spices in this one make it more of a sipper than a swigger. I'm pretty neutral on pumpkin beers, but this is one of the few I make an effort to purchase. It seems to hit the right spices pretty hard without tasting terribly artificial.
