Unknown vintage; drank 4/30/15 @ the Yarchives.
Brown appearance. Tan head; a curtain of lace.
Peanut butter & cream nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Peanut butter & mild pumpkin flavors up front; a metallic, chalky finish. Booze notes emerged as this warmed.
Hopefully this one went bad? Tough to finish.

Got in a trade with GreenBayBA. 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oats, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa nibs, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oats, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, grassy, peppery hop; and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oats, dark/brown bread, smoke, char, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa nibs, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; with a great hop/roast bitter/sweet balance, and no acrid/astringent flavors after finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 6.3%. Overall this is a delicious oatmeal stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa nibs, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Nicely rich malt complexity, balancing earthy hops, and restrained yeast character. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

This beer smells like a Hershey's chocolate bar and tastes like a bit darker, more like bitter chocolate chip, mixed with a delicious maltiness that pricks the tongue devilishly. There is also a wholesome oatmeal flavor and consistency that makes this wash down like a filling dessert.

Tyranena is one of my favorite local breweries. This is one of the seasonal stouts they brew that I enjoy to drink. The aroma of chocolate is more than the flavor of chocolate, which is fine by me. It tastes and feels like a well bodied stout. A well rounded beer to enjoy with some music.

Looks the part--jet black and a thick light tan head. Nose is nice and roasty, rich chocolate. Flavor is dry roast malt, coffee-like character, nice under current of cocoa. Body is medium-full, nice dry/bitter finish. Very solid chocolate oatmeal stout. Really like the dry/roasty finish and very glad I've got 5 left!
