Poured from a 12 oz bottle. Deep dark cocoa brown, close to black. Khaki colored head with moderate carbonation. Nice lacing.

Smells of coffee and earthy cocoa. Whiffs of burnt toast, dark baking chocolate and roasted malt.

The taste is fantastio with no bitterness at all. Sweet dark chocolates, toffee, vanilla and coconut. Warming sensation with the bourbon barrel aging but no abv sting. Subtle hints of coffee as it warms.

Creamy oatmeal-like mouthfeel. Very, very drinkable. I quite enjoyed this. Hope to acquire more.

12oz bottle dated 04 November 2010, poured into a Gandhi-Bot tulip.

A: Black body with brown highlights and a thin ring of fine tan foam. Hardly any carbonation, but the ring does stick around pretty well. Ok.

S: At first the aroma is all about the chocolate and vanilla, but as it warms up some spicy oak and bourbon emerge as well. A touch of smoke. Excellent.

T: Vanilla up front, followed by sweet brownie batter, toasted oak, caramel, and more vanilla. Some faint char and bourbon on the long, bittersweet finish. Quite enjoyable.

M: Slick, smooth medium body with a very low level of carbonation. Underwhelming.

O: Highly drinkable, with a good mixture of barrel and base. A bit more body and carbonation would have been nice, but it aged beautifully - very mellow and balanced.

Cheers!

12oz screw-cap bottle poured into Jack's Abby snifter. Thanks Josh (thebigredone), this beer sounds awesome!

A- Pours an opaque pitch black with just a very faint mocha head that dissipates rather fast leaving just a flat top, carbonation seems to be fairly minimal.

S- Vanilla beans and cocoa nibs come out nicely balancing well with each other, bourbon very subtle with just a touch of oak. Very nice aTyroma with everything complementing each other nicely, bourbon could come out just a tiny bit more but that's nothing to complain about.

T- Vanilla beans come out nicely up front delivering a smooth yet subtle vanilla taste complimenting cocoa nibs, toasted almonds, subtle bourbon, and a hint of oak. Finishes with a strong vanilla bean flavor that is slightly more bean flavored then up front, slightly boozy on the finish with the bourbon. I'd love to try this without being barrel-aged as I'm not sure the bourbon barrels add a whole lot to the taste other then a very subtle complexity.

M- Rich, creamy, slightly velvety, a bit of booze up front especially for 7.5% but fairly easy drinking.

O- All of the Tyranena brews I've had have been somewhat gimmicky although very tasty, Doubly Down 'N Even Dirtier is no exception. The flavors play nicely off of each other although I'm not sure if the bourbon barrel necessarily adds a whole lot, I'd love to try it without it. At 7.5% it was still a tiny bit boozy (probably attributed to the bourbon) which prevented me from rating it slightly higher but overall this was tasty and very easy drinking. This won't blow you away but I definitely recommend trying it out.

Much thanks to Hendrick24!

Appearance: Pours dark and viscous looking with no head to speak of, minus a collar of off-white head.

Smell: Richest of the rich coffee roast, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, dark fruit...it smells like a fancy Starbucks(thought please understand, I loathe to mention the place) iced coffee, made with expensive, rich coffee.

Taste: Rich chocolate, vanilla and coffee roast say "whaazuuupp???" Middle shows a Bourbon emergence with bitter roast and some caramel. The end is a nice fade of rich coffee, distant caramel and bitter chocolate. The vanilla beans add a nice, noticeable extra vanilla dimension that sets this beer a bit above the rest.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied for sure, though not in the realm of Huna or BCBS...but there's no shame in that. For this abv and the style, this feel is just right. This beer is quite crushable.

Overall: I'm thinking crazy things about this beer, like it's better than FBS or even KBS...I wouldn't concretely come to that conclusion without a side by side, but I must drop this simple fact...this beer is nothing short of AWESOME!
