This is the best place to get yourself some good take home brews in the area. This is a grocery store with a "Wine Depot." There are other Wine Depots in the area but what sets this apart is an enthusiastic Beer & Wine manager. There is already a great selection of brews here, some chilled, some not, with a selection more comparable to what i'd see in richmond.. Requests are taken seriously. Also, the term "bad bottle" means something here. The manager will be happy to ensure you are satisfied with your purchase...if not, you will be taken care of within reason ..this makes quality about perfect. On more than one occasion i've requested a beer, or even mentioned it here on BA only to find at the store a few weeks later. As for selection, this place can't be beat in my area. Check it out!!

P.S. I also recieve beermail updates from the manager on new arrivals..that's first class service!

I guess I'm reviewing this b/c not only did someone review it this calendar year but also I moved into this area and now frequest this one most weekends. Only go here, in terms of beer shopping, if you can't make the 10 minute drive over to Grape & Gourmet or are w/ someone that is a neophyte in terms of beer drinking. You can pick up the basics like Chimay and Stone and some Rogue/DFH. Other than that it's a higher up grocery store in this town and the cuts of meat from this one aren't bad.

Honestly these ratings are nice and all but the store has gone through so many changes its a shell of its former glory.. I should know As I am Tinustime and have not worked there in 6 years.. I love looking at the past reviews but the store no longer warrants it.. It is a graveyard where good beers go to die now.. I was in there and found 5 year old beers.. I am sorry to say that the company did not want to keep up good beer. I did think i did my best while i was there, but the good news is that there are so many other options in the 757 now that I hope i started to help form..

Based on the reviews I read on Beer Advocate while researching the Virginia Beach area for a recent visit, this place seemed like a "must see." Several of the products other reviewers mentioned here aren't available in my area, so I was looking forward to obtaining some new brews. Tucked away in the left front of the store, I found one four-foot section of unrefridgerated beer (five shelves). There was nothing there I can't get in North Carolina, and there wasn't any Dogfish Head, Smuttynose, Three Floyds, or Stone to be found. The walk-in cooler was (not surprisingly) dominated by American Macro-lagers, and the only interesting items there were two varieties of Old Dominion that I hadn't seen elsewhere. If in the area again I may stop to see if things have changed.

I've been to this store twice now in the past two days. I found it to be the best beer store in a supermarket that I've ever been to up to this point. The selection is very good. They don't have everything, but they have a ton of brews that I've been looking for. It's like they set out to stock a lot of the beers that no one else carries. They also have a lot of typical favorites as well. I found myself having to ration what I bought so I didn't go broke, and forcing me to come back again soon. Another plus is they appear to carry a brewery's current full line instead of just one or two samples. The service was very good as well. TinusTime, a fellow BA, works there and was very helpful. He held some brews for me, and offered to email me when he gets new stock. He seems enthusiastic about his job and very willing to do what he can to get you what you want. The value was overall, quite good also. I'm not as familiar with the range of prices on imports as I am with the domestic microbrews, but for the most part, when comparing prices on beers I'm more familiar with, they were either right at or below most other stores. The cheapest I've ever been able to find DFH's World Wide Stout and any of the Stone line. Overall, the place is key. If you're anywhere close, it's worth the drive to check out.

I went to this store on the word of the Beer advocate community. It really is a great store. There is a walk in refrigerator area of the store, a large selection and variety of brews. Why can't I have a local store with this selection. I went here to bypass the NC 6% cap, and am very satisfied with what I walked away with. The staff of the store includes at least one beer advocate and he is very helpful with choosing and recommending beer. Do not be afraid of the staff! It is the best part of this store guaranteed. I was planning on going to multiple stores on my trip out of the state, but spent more than I expected at this one (not because of prices, but because I kept picking up additional bottles). Great place to go, and I will actually be sad when the cap gets lifted becuase it will be more difficult for me to visit.

In short visit this store!

Accidentally happened upon this great beer selection when I stopped by this store before a competition to grab some fruit. I always check the beers sections of the supermarkets I go in just incase of something like this. I walked into the freezer room and to the right was the best selection of micros I have seen in a FarmFresh and definitely one of the better selection overall for this area. Too bad more stores don’t have a little side section for the beer geeks like this, it could make the world a better place. I didn’t get to meet TinusTime but next time I am in the area I plan on stopping by to pick some stuff up.

Stopped in to this Farm Fresh this past Saturday with my wife. We had time to kill while her car was being serivced nearby, so i thought I would jump in and check out their beer selection. Farm Fresh is known in Hampton Roads as one of the few grocery stores that actually stocks decent beer. I live right around the corner from one of these stores, though not this one that i am reviewing. When I arrived in the beer/wine department of this particular Farm Fresh, I was amazed. The selection blew me away (compared to other Farm Fresh stores). Everything was clean, well stocked, and it appeared that the manager went out of his way to stock good and hard to come by beers. I was impressed that they still had this year's Anchor Christmas Ale in stock. Well, I'm practically drooling at the selection of singles: 2004 SN Bigfoot, Geary's Hampshire Special Ale, every Dogfish Head (120's sa well), Rogue's, Stone, FFF Gumballhead, and the list goes on...
So I start talking with the manager, and after several minutes of discussion, it comes out that we are both on beeradvocate.com! Nice. Looks like I found a new place to purchase my beer from now on! This particular store is a MUST if you live in the hampton roads area.

Nice to meet ya, TinusTime!

Wow, this place was amazing. I guess all Farm Fresh's are not created equal. Samuel Smith, Dog Fish Head and Sierra Nevada line the shelves. Tons of micro's and the like. Prices were fair, but nothing special. A huge thanks to fellow beer advocate, TinusTime, for pointing out this gem of a store. Service was average, but what can you really expect from a Supermarket. Selection was second to none compared to the other places I've been around here. If your ever on the Southside, this place is a must stop to get some harder to find brews.

This was a very interesting establishment. TinusTime has it setup with a warm section that is very nice including sixers and singles. The treat is behind the warm beer shelves is a walk in beer cooler for the customer's. Never been in a place that has a walk in that the customers get to go in. When you walk in, you turn to the right and see the wall of goodness. There is a wall of very special beers just screaming "take me home!" For the most part the rest of the walk in is uneventful with a majority of the beers being macros.

I would suggest visting this place if you are anywhere remotely in the area.
