Nice copper color, with malty after taste. The use of maize in Giraf (by appointment to the Royal Danish Court) brings out a flavor rarely encountered in lagers.

Beer bottle (33cl), tasted in 2000.

Appearance: golden color, with white foam head (little sparkle).
Smell: nose of alcohol and malt.
Taste and mouthfeel: soft, creamy and refreshing in the mouth, no bitterness.
Drinkability: a beer without much character in the style strong lager.

Interesting design on the can: black giraffe spots over shiny copper. Fitting. Poured from a 500 ml can. This is a decent looking lager, a pleasant golden tone with a good head that recedes to a thin layer most of the way down, and leaves its fair share of lacing. However it goes downhill from there... Aroma is sweet, biscuity and boozy, and a bit tinny as well. Flavour is metallic and boozy, with a bready sweetness. The flavour strikes me far more of being that of an apple or pear cider than a lager. The mouthfeel is watery, and the aftertaste tends to bite back. Goes to show that appearances can be deceiving. Pass on the Giraf.

Appearance: 500ml can. Clear golden pour with a medium head. Little carbonation.

Smell: Light, if not absent, nose. Very bland with some floral hints. A touch of maltiness is detected but barely.

Taste: Noticeably flat off the top. No hoppiness. Very dull flavours. Starts to get grainy-sweet towards the finish. Dull maltiness. A "tin" taste" as a result of the can i guess. Really a dull beer in every aspect.

Mouthfeel: Flat and watery.

Drinkablility: I can't say i'd want to drink this beer again. It isn't very good, period.

Color is yellowy-amberish with no real head presentation, some light lace and bubbles around the edge. Smells faintly of malt and floral hops, somewhat flat. Taste is the same, some maltness thats smooth and lingering and has a pleasing hop appeal. Nothing to overwhelming about this Malt style beer. It does carry a well balanced flaver of malt and hop, but is pretty light fare in the feel department and overall boldness. Its not bad, you can drink em, but most would maybe move on to something with a bit more flavor and feel kick.

--Beer poured nice with a slight head that diminished into not much. A nice color and average smell.
--When I took my first sip I was expecting it to be strong tasting. It had a nice, almost light taste to it.
--When I think of 7.3% beer I think back to the beers I drank at a young age where it tasted terrible but it got you feeling really 'happy'...perfect value for your few dollars. I was pleasantly surprised by this strong beer and its very drinkable taste.

For a strong beer, this Giraf has a lightness to it. The taste is bitter sweet and lingering. Medium body and light carbonation. The head is faintly visable as a thin lace and the aroma is crisp and clean with maybe just a slight hint of yeast.

decent deep golden colour with an initial 2.5 fingers of head. The taste is fairly average, with a slightly sweet aftertaste. The alcohol shows its face however. not an especially remarkable beer.
