Sunny amber-orange with equal contributions from each. The edges are brighter yet and are a fetching shade of bumblebee yellow. The cap is cream in color with a pastel yellow tint. It deposits better than average lace in the form of a thick collar and a few squiggles higher up the glass.
Point Cascade Pale Ale has a classic Cascade hop aroma: brightly lemony and grapefruity. Very little malt peeks through, which is just as well since I'm sure the beer was meant to be a Cascade showcase. It's a little lacking in terms of strength and makes me wonder whether enough hops were used. I'm amazed to learn that it's actually been dry-hopped. It sure doesn't smell like it.
I like the flavor just fine, there just isn't enough of it (even for an APA). There isn't enough pale malt on hand and there's precious little flavor contribution from what is present. As a result, the bitterness of the hops isn't effectively countered by malt sugars. More hop flavor and less hop bitterness would have been great.
I feel like a broken record sometimes, but this is another example in which a simple lack of ingredients just cannot be overcome. The mouthfeel is between light and medium. It's a good fit for the flavor profile, I guess, but it doesn't otherwise make an impression.
It shouldn't be that difficult to make a good Cascade-hopped pale ale; plenty of brewers have done it. I could drink Stevens Point Cascade Pale Ale by the gallon and not give it a second thought. Therein lies the problem. It's pleasantly drinkable, but I'm not likely to remember the experience once this bottle is gone.

Amber color with a small and decent head.
Aroma of citrus, light hops and malts.
Taste was OK, mild bitterness with some sharp citrus notes.
High carbonation, light in body with a normal pale ale finish.

It used to be a fairly decent-looking beer, but looks aren't what made it good. The aroma was not very memorable, but still pleasantly piney. When slightly warm, the aroma grew richer and more complex. It tasted lovely, with a firmly hoppy and smooth flavor. Not a complex flavor, but still quite satisfying. It felt good to drink - the hops was definitely present in throughout.
My stand-by beer for as long as it was around. One of those pale ales that tended to get richer with a bit of warmth while drinking, instead of skunkier. Overall it was tasty, reasonably priced, and reliable.
(I'm curious to see how Point's Hoptastic APA upholds this beer's legacy.)

I'm finally reviewing this from handwritten notes from Dec. 2012. It was from a bottle, deep gold with small white head steadily shrinking to foamy ring and wisps.
Aroma was nice citrus, grain, apple, orange flower, hint of pine/light grapefruit.
Taste was light, crisp, citrus, pine hints, grain, cracker, hint of apple, dryish with nice light bitterness, lingering and just dominating a light sweetness. Simple but very nice, well-balanced, highly drinkable with enough character to stay interesting, nice engaging feel.

Lighter amber shade of pale, solid 1" of white head. Classic c hop bitter aroma. Grapefruit all over it.
Taste, c hops dominate. A little bit of herbal component, bittersweet toasted caramel malt. Well carbonated. For what is pretty much a regional macro, this is a decent c hop bitter pale ale that what it lacks in complexity, it makes up for in standard reliability.

A really solid citrusy and hoppy aroma. The flavor leans more towards the citrus, but it still tastes great, and can stand with the more well-known pale ales.

Appearance: Hazy medium golden color, with a large, somewhat coarse off-white head, prominent Belgian-style lacing, and an abundance of suspended, fine particulate. Slight, slow-rising carbonation is also present.
Aroma: Cascade hops are, as the name suggests, quite prominent in the aroma, there is an abundance of pale malt as well, but the hops dominate.
Taste: Opens with solid, clean pale malt and somewhat forward Cascade hops. Soon after the taste opens, the hops rise to dominance, although the pale malt is never totally vanquished. The taste closes with hops forward, but also a clean bread malt presence in the background.
Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, fairly full, with abundant, but soft carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: A nice example, very drinkable and refreshing.
Presentation: Packaged in a twelve-ounce brown glass long-neck bottle with a twist-off crown, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.
