I've lived within a hundred miles of this brewery for most of my life, and I thought it was about time that I tried some of their brews. This one poured out of a bottle a light caramel color with about an inch of eggshell head that fairly quickly fell to a lace that stuck around and clung a bit. Good clarity and moderate effervescence. The nose is nice but fairly faint: I'm getting some pine and herbal hop notes, but not much aroma to speak of. The taste is hop-forward, with pine and citrus right out of the gates. It's a bit more carbonated than I think it needs to be, but that wasn't altogether distracting. Some sweet, just slightly corny malt flavor presents itself midway through the taste. The close is fairly clean and has more of the pine notes.

I enjoyed this beer. As far as pale ales go, it has nice balance and solid hop flavor, which is really what I'm most concerned with. For what it delivers, you really can't top the taste for this price around here. I could see enjoying this with a wide range of foods and in all kinds of weather. Well worth picking up if you're a hop head living on a budget in Wisconsin.

A: slight haze; bronze colored; 1 finger white head that receded to a thin cap; no lacing;

S: more like noble hops than cascade;

T: follows the nose; a little lemon rind in the lightly bitter finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; crisp;

O: nothing stands out one way or the other expect that I couldn't find the cascade anywhere;

Stevens Point American Pale Ale is very good and one of the best American Ales I've enjoyed.
The bitterness is good without being "sour" . The mouth feel is cool with a slight floral taste. Well done and my Wisconsin Friends!! ! You do Beer Proud! And My Chiropractor is from there.. so extra credit! ! ! !
