First tried this beer back in Feb. when purchased and was not impressed. Could probably have used some more aging. Left two bottles in the fridge to carry on.
Now end of May let's see what we have.

Poured once into glass to avoid any sediment.
Creamy off-white head lasts awhile then fades to cover a deep amber brew softly carbonated and clear.
Has a fragrant nutty aroma blending raisins with roasted malts and spice that we sometimes would say "Dubbel". It smells like an oak aged Scotch Whiskey. I find that appealing.
Malty fruity flavor start pauses to reveal the aromatics addition kind of strongly to have that caramunich character imposed on a non-stout which just can't override it. It picks up to finish with faint candy caramel pleasing to the palate.
All in all, aging helped this beer along on it's way and seems to have matured well. More hops would carry it past the taste of a double-bock into the holiday necessities.

12 ounce bottle poured into a pint glass.

Appearance/ Very dark, almost black. A full 2 fingers of rich, brown foam that left a nice sticky lacing.

Smell/ A nice malt aroma with a toasty coffee and chocolate highlights in the background.

Taste/ The thing that I tasted most was a strong coffee flavor followed by a malty chocolate flavor. A slight hop presence was in the background.

Mouth Feel/ This was a very smooth beer wit a nice little hop bite right at the end.

Over All/ I really liked this beer. I think it was pretty well in line with the style. It is not the best winter style beer I have had but I went back and some more when I finished my first six pack. I would drink this again at any time.

Enjoying in the cold
Pours dark, slightly amber in color with a tan head. The smell is nutty and of red wine, and it tastes of fruit, spice, and licorice, but more so of malt (roasted). Carbonation is mild to moderate with and the overall feel is light. Complex flavors yet very drinkable
