Low marks for Whole Hog so far. But this one has merit.
Murky apricot body, springs plenty of lace and last.
s) Malt spread with citrus and pepper.
t) Follows smell but grows more peach, melon, with pine and herbal notes, some white pepper, spice, and a bit of grapefruit rind.
f) Boozy, but creamy. A bit sweet.
o) Odd 6 hope melange.

From old, undated notes. Poured from the bottle.
Dark, murky orange color; white head which quickly dissipates.
Smell is of rotten fruit, with a MASSIVE malt profile.
No fruit in the taste, just a bitter, gross malt flavor. Not sure how to describe this; rainwater in a trash can? Rancid.
I'm hoping this was skunked or something and not actually how this tastes. Drainpour, sadly.

Poured cold into a stemless wine glass.
Look = 3.5 Pours a pale clear golden-amber color with 1/4 fingers of off white head which fades quickly to a ring. Lace is moderate in denseness and stickiness. Might fare better in a tulip glass.
Smell = 3.5 Balanced but not very strong. Sweet malty smell up front with some earthy smelling hops. Doesn’t stand up to most of the DIPAs I’ve been drinking.
Taste = 4.0 Balanced like the nose; Sweet up front with a slight bitter bite at the end with little to no alcohol. Not overly complex, but good.
Feel = 3.5 Light to medium bodied with very low carbonation. A little flat for my tastes.
Drinkability = 4.5 Overall pretty smooth and refreshing. Something you could sip on on a hot summer’s day despite the 8.5% ABV.
Overall = 3.775 Far from a dominate DIPA but with high drinkability and decent enough taste it’s not bad. Aroma and mouthfeel is lacking.
