A: Orangish copper hue with a steady one-inch head--it fades eventually; not too much lacing

S: Lots of pumpkin, cloves, and other spices--nutmeg, allspice, etc.--but the cloves and pumpkins are the stars; there is some toasted malt presence on the back side, which eventually comes to the forefront

T: Pumpkin and spice aren't over-powering but they are there; I wish there was a stronger bready malt base--pretty pumpkin forward and yet somewhat simple

F: A touch thin on the back end with some creaminess up front that does kind of make up for it

O: A pleasant, straight-forward pumpkin beer; decent option though there are better options out there--but considering the price point, this will work

This beer has a nice brown reddish color body with a small white head. The aroma has a sweet pumpkin smell and spice. The taste is simple, pumpkin and spice, its like a liquid pumpkin pie. Mouthfeel is smooth and overall one of the better pumpkin beers I have had.

Bottle > Pint Glass
A - Pours a hazy amber color, half a finger of thin fizzy head, no lacing.
S - Smell isnt too appeasing to me, some burnt caramel, roasted hazelnut, tart pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg.
T - Taste has some nice roasty kind of pumpkin flavor to it, then gets warmed up with some spice, and fades on the end to a dark floral and semi tart kinda taste.
M - More on the bitter side, kinda chalky too.
O - I really didnt care for this a whole lot, its more of a roasty kind of pumpkin brown ale, but its not the worst.

Poured into a nonic.

Pours a clear dark copper amber. Thin fast fading off white head. Some minimal patchy lace. Average looks.

Brew smells of spices; big cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin rind. Nice malty flavors in the nose as well. Good smelling brew.

Brew is a little thin, crisp and carbonated; finishes clean and a little warming from the alcohol. Has a somewhat drying aftertaste. Good spices; cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin. There are some nice caramel malts as well. Some hops in here as well. Not overly sweet, nice flavors. Good, balanced flavors. A little thin, but good stuff.

This is a good all around sessionable pumpkin ale. I enjoy this one and with it being 7.5% abv it goes down way easy. Good stuff.

Whole Hog Limited Edition Pumpkin Ale, Ale brewed with pumpkin and spices, Stevens Point Brewery, Stevens Point, WI. 7.5% alc./vol.

Hazy, dark amber, going towards bronze, under a tan head that disappears quickly.

Aroma: sweet pumpkin notes hit first, then swallowed up by cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, etcetera. Beautiful.

Taste: In the mouth, this one is not shy with the spices at all. Full-flavored, with a warming heat, and a solid, malt body below. In between blasts of spice, some hops are present on the palate. Classic caramel malt body. Easy drinker, despite the high-ish a.b.v. Tasty stuff, and highly likable.

Much thanks to Dave for providing the bottle. He wanted to share a pumpkin ale he thought I would like, after I wrote that perhaps I didn't like them anymore. I like them, when they're as good as this, but can't see having more than one in a sitting.

12 ounce bottle. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours a mostly clear burnt orange color with about an inch and a half frothy off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The flavors in this brew as just like I smell in the aroma, but the taste isn't quite as strong as I thought it would be (but it's still good). Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit slick and has moderate carbonation. Drinkability is good, it's smooth and goes down easy. Not a bad overall pumpkin ale, I'd buy this again in the future. It's definitely worth a try.

Served in a flared glass mug.

I'll say it again: I'm getting increasingly proud of my brother's beer selections. This one pours a clear ruby-amber topped by a finger of ecru foam. The nose comprises cinnamon, nutmeg, French vanilla, brown sugar, and graham crackers. The taste runs very similarly, with that pumpkin pie kinda flavor, but the sweetness of it all is dulled slightly by a splash of pumpkin seeds and orange peel. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a smooth feel. Overall, a tasty gem of a pumpkin beer, something you don't find too many of these days.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. pours a rich orangish-amber with a half finger of tan head that has poor retention and leaves light lacings.

aroma is of pumpkin spice, with notes of nutmeg, a touch of cinnamon, and some pumpkin seeds. spicy in the nose without much malt quality other than a bit of caramelized malts in the background. reminiscent of an Oktoberfest with a kick of pumpkin spices.

taste is malty, with caramelized malts up front and a more restrained spiced character. very mellow on the palate when compared to the aroma, which works to the brews benefit. finishes with an alcoholic tinge and some residual spice. very well crafted without overdoing the spiced notes on the palate.

mouthfeel is medium bodied and rich with flavor, along with a malty finish of residual spice and some caramel malts.

drinkability is suprizingly good. for a pumpkin brew, the aromatic notes are heavy on the spice, but on the palate the profile is cleverly well balanced and much less spiced. a solid pumpkin brew that has the spice, but does not overdo it.

This beer pours a beautiful reddish brown with nice clarity. Cream colored head was two fingers following my semi-aggressive pour, but has now settled to a thin layer with decent retention.

The smell is a touch on the mellow side, but the spices are definitely there, and there's nothing offensive about the aroma. A touch of alcohol in the nose as well.

A little bit of hop-bite towards the front, but then it quickly fades allowing for the spices and smooth pumpkin flavor to come through. A little heat from the alcohol, but it doesn't get in the way of the flavor.

Medium body with a good carbonation level.

I could drink a few of these, but that's about it.

Morey's Bottom Line: A pretty good example of the style. Not elite, but solid for sure. Worth a try if you've never had it.
