Pours up to a nice permanent buff head that leaves delicate lace. Color is a bright copper. Aroma is a nice blend of floral and citrus hops with a nice malt backdrop. Flavor is surprisingly sessionable and balanced with pale and light crystal malts balanced with citrus and floral flavor hops and a balancing bitterness. Mouthfeel is light-medium. Overall a very good and easy drinking IPA.

12 oz bottle poured into a Sierra Nevada imperial pint.
6.5% ABV,

A - Hazed ever-so-slightly, Beyond The Pale goes beyond pale into a slightly tarnished, robust golden amber color that's topped by a long-lasting ivory head. Wisps of thin lace trace lines across the pint as it's consumed.

S - A bouquet of American hops present a bold aroma of pine and fruit; lemon peel, pinecone and pine needle with undertones of ripe mango and sweet pineapple. Sweet and bready caramel and Munich-like malt provide a sturdy base to this dry-hopped aroma for an aggressive, fragrant IPA nose finished off with a faint hint of sulfur.

T - Malt heavy as the aroma suggested, Beyond The Pale focuses on sweet caramelized notes and dense breadiness which brings good balance to the beer, but it's full hop aroma seems to get lost in space, fading out with a kiss goodbye of tropical fruit.

M - Plenty bitter, the hops shimmer here the most, really offering a punch of hops that the flavor seems to forget. This medium-full bodied beer finishes with hop dryness and powerful bitterness cut through the sweetness of the malt for a strong-yet-balanced mouthfeel.

O - Point Beyond The Pale does just that; goes beyond a pale ale, but maybe in one small step, not one giant leap. This beer brings it with the hops in both aroma and bitterness, though dryhopping only goes so far. Focused hop flavor is minimal leaving a plethora of malt taking point. Beyond The Pale isn't offensive, it just doesn't pack a a flavor wallop to back up the IBUs.

Poured 12oz bottle into Duvel Tulip

A - Pours a nice copper hue with a nice creamy one and a half finger tall white head, almost no lacing.

S - Smells of floral and galaxy hops, light grapefruit and passion fruit with a hint of bready malt.

T - First sip gives a light bitterness and then hints of grapefruits, passion fruit, caramel malt and some light breadiness. Finish is a mix of hop bitterness and a touch of sweetness, lingering for some time after consumption.

M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Smooth, hoppy feel that lingers on the pallet long after each sip.

O - I know this is Point brewery, but I like this beer. The galaxy hops were a great choice for this one. I would say it is more like an APA with a nice hop flavor and very easy drinking. Priced well at under $7 a 6 pack.

No date on bottle. Poured into snifter glass. The beer presented a copper color, nothing out of the ordinary. Smelled primarily tropical fruits, oranges, and some malt sweetness. Very pleasant.
Taste-wise this is very hop forward beer. It's instantly bitter but without much malt present. Taste almost a little like burnt orange (I know...who knows what burnt orange taste like?). It's not so complex in flavor - getting the hops but no sweetness from malt. The hop is strong in this one; probably the beer for hopheads! Very light bodied mouthfeel and fully carbonated. Perfect for a hot day and very sessionable in my opinion. For $6.50 a six pack, I can't complain. It certainly is worth the money. Definitely pick this up if you're on a budget or just plain curious to try it!

Pours a hazy amber with a nice white head. It hangs for a bit before receding to the edges, leaving a bit of lacing. Nice aroma of piney resin and caramel. Both of these predominate the taste, along with a bit of citrus. The malt and hops balance well. Medium mouth with just enough oil to allow the bitterness to hang around. A solid IPA that deserves a thumbs up.

This beer looks the part: golden with a touch of orange, and a white foam that recedes to a persistent quarter inch and laces the glass.

There is a faint (FAINT) fruitiness to the aroma, and if people insist insist on it being passionfruit, so be it, but to me, it is indiscriminate.

The taste is initially quite bitter. Heavy-handedly bitter. Midway through a second glass, my bitterness receptors shut down and I could get some sweet maltiness. Not very balanced.

The beer prickles the tongue and leaves a dry-mouth sensation that I usually associate with tannins from malts and hops. In this case, I would guess it comes from the hops.

I really wanted to like this beer, as it is my introduction to Galaxy hops. While I don't hate it, it is not well-balanced and does may not be featuring these hops in the best light, in my opinion..

Stevens Point Brewery has an excellent IPA entry in Beyond the Pale. Nothing light, watered down, no foam, 3 bubble beer here!!!
The colour is light caramel/amber ;the smell is like being in the Juniper forests of the great white north.
From the first smell/taste I was hooked.. sweet aromas of fir trees in spring.
The taste and mouth feel is both bold and subtle that lingers on the tastbuds.
It goes down smooth with a cool nectar slightly acidic aftertaste like a tart apple.
Treat yourself to and IPA that is bold on flavour but very reasonable on cost....
Nice Entry S.P.B. You do Wisconsin and the USA proud... Thank you!
