Now that this place is in my back yard, I had to stop by to check it out. Although this will probably not replace Tanczos in Northampton and Bethlehem or Shangy's, also in Emmaus, as my regular case shop, this is still a decent place to hit if you are in a pinch, passing through the area, and need a case. The people there are very friendly and above-average on their knowledge, but do not ask them about Westy 12. They might just look at you a bit funny.

Still, not bad place to hit when you are in the area.

Zum wohl!

Stopped after leaving the Tap & Table en route home. This store is less than a mile from both T&T and the Farmhouse.

Quality: The store is well-lit and ordely, clean with an antiseptic feel. I was greeted by a cashier on entry.

Service: Other than the greeting, nothing more. In defense of the staff, I didn't seek out or require service.

Selection: Lots of macros, numerous even. Took me a minute or so to locate the craft section. Lots of PA brews, with Stoudt's and Weyerbacher standing out in terms of quantity. Dogfish Head, Sierra Nevada, Chimay as well. A decent German section too boot.

You know, if not for Shangy's being right down the street, this would make a nice hometown distributor. Unfortunately, Shangy's is, well, Shangy's.

I have to say that for just being my local case shop that I go to for day-to-day purchases, I could not be happier. They stock some surprising treats and have employee selections that are top-notch. Plus, and most importantly, their ratings are based in BA!!

The selection is diverse, specializing mostly in the American crap beer first. But what blew me away was the massive, rotating selection of BA A+'s. They aren't always there, and they aren't always good, but they are always just a day or call away, if you are patient.

I found two of my favorite beers there, Dogfish Head 90 Minute Imperial IPA and Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA. I believe, as they have been there on repeat trips, that they will be in stock for some time.

The service is almost non-existent, except at the cash register, and once you have reached them the point has become moot anyways.

I guess that I would have to say that I am blessed to have this place as my staple, local beer provider, but there are some things left to be desired.

This is my default beer store for any normal beer. If I want a special beer, I look for it here first because they have great pricing, but they don't always have a great selection. They have been carrying a wider variety lately, but it is still hit or miss for some odd beers. Their prices can't be beat for any standard beers.

Sometimes they have odd beer cases for cheep that they need to get rid of. I have often bought beers and malt-ternatives (Smirnoff ICE / Wine Cooler style) for under $10 a case that I never heard of before. Some of those were not worth the price, and others were a great bargain so I bought as many as I could afford before they were out.

<UPDATE>
It seems they were bought out about a year ago and have a declining selection and raising of prices. Not as good as it once was but it is still OK.

This is a big boxy wharehouse of a place, moderate selection of CASES of local, regional and foreign brews. Tons of macros on shelving kept warm and even more in the big walk in cooler. Some sampler cases, which helps when you can only buy by the case. They do have a modest selection of BA worthy suds but, the only reason reason to go to this place would be if you were gonna miss closing time at Shangy's or if you just wanted a cheap ice cold 30 pack of coors light cans...The guy behind the counter was friendly enough.

An all around great beer stop. Liberty Bell offers a Very decent selection. Including Victory, Troegs, Stoudts, River Horse, Yards, and many more. They get plenty of seasonal stuff from the Boston Brewery, and even some from Brooklyn .They also carry the entire yuengling line, and always have kegs available. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are what one would expect from a medium sized brew establishment. Always my choice for that quick stop when I am in the neighborhood.

Although this Liberty Bell Beverage location falls under the shadow of the Shangy's giant just a few miles up on route 29, it's still a decent place to pick up a case of beer at a good price. They have a decent selection of imports and micros, and the selection is better than average. The store is well maintained, the stock is rotated, and the staff is fairly friendly and knowledgeable. It's certainly not a destination location (like Shangy's), but it could come in handy when visiting relatives or passing through a several tiny towns on your way to someplace bigger.
