12 ounce bottle. This beer has a clear, light brown color with a thin layer of foam. The aroma is apple cider, butter, and some rotten smell I can't put my finger on. The flavor is equally wretched. Flavors of butter and metal. The whole thing is quite nauseating. I choked down about a quarter of the bottle, and to the sink it went.

Blurry goldenrod with a thin eggshell lace.
Wretched nose of toasted almonds, blue cheese, and soiled diapers (and I'm being serious).
Loosely nutty and toffeed up front. Thickens into a caramel-glazed phenol phest of band-aids, granny smiths, cardboard, blood, and sand. Retains a rock-like astringency, and adds a dollop of butter as it rides out gritty without a noteworthy appearance from the hops.
Thickish, cloying, and clumsy in the mouth, and just plain awful all around.
I'm hoping that this one is simply off. But the bottle is presumably fresh, and Slab City's yeast is a bizarre one. Nonetheless, this has flaws heaped on top of flaws. A cleaned-up version would still suck.
This one gets the rare "sinkbound" designation.

Pours out bright golden amber and sits a foggish red-amber in the glass with a good sized off-white head. Fades to faint skim, leaving some lacings around the glass.

Smells thick and malty, big nutty character with hazelnuts and almonds. Buttery creaminess with bits of lemon and leafy green grasses. Mildly spicy with good caramel undertones.

Tastes lightly nutty up front with a wooden, almost chalky taste. Caramel and faint fruity notes of apricots, nectarines and plums. Nice herbal spiciness and solid hop bitterness.

Smooth in the mouth, soft carbonation. Medium body, very appealing and quickly absorbed.

I enjoyed this beer very much, lots of character and manageable. A good session ale with all the fixins.
