Poured into a snifter, thought a chocolate oatmeal stout would warrant that type of vessel (love chocolate so anything i can do to encapsulate the aroma, the better) but alas, it was unnecessary, or maybe it wasn't. I think if i would have poured this into a pint glass i might have missed the aroma all together (exaggerating of course). This beer looked a tad bit thin for a stout let alone an oatmeal stout.
The aroma was somewhat chocolatey, faintly roasty and coffee-ish. Pleasant but i wanted more. The taste resembled the same elements described in the aroma, in the same capacity...sigh. It's doesn't taste bad, it actually tastes decent, it's just a little misleading in accordance with is displayed on the label. The mouth feel, is as thin as it looks. This is supposed to be a chocolate oatmeal stout for goodness sakes! It's more like a solid English porter/brown ale and if that was the goal, i'd say kudos! Mission accomplished! Unfortunately one of the only thing this beer has greatly succeeded in was it's drinkability.
Not a bad beer but i wouldn't seek this one out again unless i ever make it to Wisconsin to try it on draft. Second chances, every beer deserves one! Almost.
