Appearance: Pours a nearly completely black color with a moderate tan head. SRM of 24. (4.00)
Aroma: Strong aromas of chocolate, nuts, lightly roasted malt. (4.00)
Flavor: Strong flavors of dark chocolate, oatmeal and cream, light roast and nuttiness. Smooth and malty, not too sweet. (4.00)
Feel: Medium-bodied, average carbonation and finishes smooth. (4.00)
Compared to Sand Creek Badger Porter 1/2023: Pours darker, stronger aromas and head. More chocolate and creamy malt. Less dark cola, root beer, dark malt and Belgian yeast. Sweeter and smoother. More flavor. Winner: Oscar's Oatmeal Stout
Overall: Nice chocolate and nutty flavors for an oatmeal stout amongst a smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Good body, flavor, and mouthfeel all around. Pretty decent and probably better than average. Much better than their porter. (Rating: 4.00)

I'm really not having good luck on picking random singles lately (and that goes for beer, too). This one has a slightly red-tinged dark brown color, translucent (perhaps a little too much so), and with a rapidly dissipating shallow beige head. It smells like cold black coffee, and tastes little better given the strong citrus note. Have IPAs been around long enough that people forget that everything doesn't have to be over-hopped? I detect neither chocolate nor oatmeal. It feels a little thin. I will probably drink this one, but then I may not.

Man I first had this back when I was at Marquette (01-04), its been around for awhile. Pours equal parts black and dark brown. Head is beige, 1/2". Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate malt. I don't think from the smell there is actual chocolate added to this beer, zero adjuncts. You just get some coffee/chocolate notes out of the roasted malt. The old school way of brewing.
Taste, pretty standard, this is one of the more session strength stouts out there that have seriously diminished on shelves the last two decades, its all imperial this and barrel aged that. They're both good, but we need this genre too. Has more of a bitter and dry mouth feel than I expected, especially when the word chocolate and oatmeal is in the label, you think its going to be sweet before it is dry. Carbonation is appropriate out the bottle.
Its a good beer, especially for those grown up enough to drink non adjunct non imperial non barrel aged stouts.

Pours pure jet black with a tan head. Medium lacing. Smell is of brown sugar. Taste is brown sugar and chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium and easy to drink for a stout. Overall, really refreshing for a stout.

A: The beer is jet black in color and has traces of dark brown near the edge of the glass. It poured with a narrow collar of light beige bubbles around the edge and a patch of bubbles on the surface.
S: Moderate aromas of chocolatey malts are present in the nose along with notes of coffee.
T: The taste follows the smell and mostly has flavors of chocolate along with hints of coffee. There is a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I liked the chocolatey aromas and flavors in this beer but it was a little light in body and not as smooth on the palate compared to other beers in the style.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Speiglau Stout glass.
Look is pitch black with ruby cola highlights at the edges and a light tan head.
Aroma is strong roast astrigent malt.
Taste is exactly what I expected from the aroma. Sweet chocolate malt balanced by bitter astrigency.
Well done.

Pours dark brown, scant finger of tan head settles to a persistent glaze.
Aroma is vague malt, not much going on.
Flavor is sweet and chocolatey. Some grassiness, roast and kahluha sneak in.
Medium mouthfeel is appropriate for the style.
Very nice, tidy stout. Really as sweet as a milk stout, which tends to make the chocolate take a back seat... presents more like tootsie roll.

It pours a rich dark black with a small tan head that soon goes to a nice ring around the glass. The smell is mildly chocolate with a faint hint of roasted coffee. To be honest not much of smell to it at all. The taste is where I pick up the chocolate and is very smooth ( like a milk chocolate bar) you get a mild bit of a roasted coffee to the end of a sip. The body is medium but easy drinking. I would say a very easy drinking offering maybe a bit of a fall drink around a fire pit instead of after cutting grass.

This beer pours very dark with a frothy, 1 finger, tan head. The nose is is interesting. It doesnt really smell like chocolate. It almost smells like root beer. Maybe I'm wrong, but not chocolate.
The taste is well, the nose lied. I do get a nice, rich chocolate taste. It is bold. It also has a slight coffee flavor.
It isn't watery, and fairly full bodied.
Delicious pick up from Wisconsin.
