Pretty rich in the look, this one is completely black, no light coming through whatsoever. It forms a tan head that starts off just over a finger and creamy, but grows to two fingers and is continuously being renewed by a very nice cascade. It remains very creamy but develops some thickness and heaviness to it. Nice patching is left behind.
The nose offers some a mix of cocoa powder and almost milk chocolate, more sweet than bitter as with many stouts. Underneath lies a citrus element. Roast is there, but as a sort of subtext. Barley grains come up from underneath. There's some tang I'm not terribly fond of.
The taste pretty well follows suit, with the barley element pushing to the front and the roast pushing up more than in the aroma. There's almost a hint of peat and smoke. The roast, in fact, goes a little charred and, combined with the sweetness, stops shy of an acrid note. It subsides a bit, but the finish gets, for lack of a better way to express it, salty.
The feel is a pretty heavy medium, a subtle crispness giving way to a smoother sip. While the cascade is there the entire time, the carbonation is still light.

A-almost black with a fingers worth of tan head
S-overall smell is sort of light but consists of roasted malt, light coffee bitterness, caramel, and milk chocolate
T-taste is similar to the smell, also a bit subdued. Roasted malt, roasted coffee, and dark chocolate. A tad harsh.
M-too thin for the style, prickly carbonation, dry finish
Overall this beer kind of seems all over the place. Starts out promising with the smell but that was as good as it got for me. I wouldn't try this again.
