On-tap at Three Cellars, Franklin, WI:

Pours black with a thin white head. Some lacing sticks.

The smell is of chocolate, slight roast, a touch of anise and some alcohol.

The taste of chocolate is certainly there. It could be richer, but it works to give it a strong chocolate character. A touch of anise and mild roast balance the sweetness in the finish. A touch of alcohol warmth comes through.

It hits full-bodied, but could be creamier and and a bit thicker for an imperial stout.

Overall, it's a good choice for a warming, chocolate-forward, yet reasonably balanced, sweet-leaning brew!

Poured from a 12oz. bottle I got while on vacation from the Four Firkins in Minnesota.

A - Pours kinda thin, with a 1/2 finger of brown head. No lacing left behind as I sip...

S - The smell is of a decent oatmeal stout. A little smokes, with a sharp bitterness of dark chocolate.

T/M - The taste is better than I expected. Creamy and smooth mouthfeel. Notes of chocolate, a little dark fruit and some unsweetened coffee. Nice lingering roasted malt aftertaste.

O - A very good, easy to drinking Double Chocolate Oatmeat Stout without almsot no hint of alcohol. I would buy this one again if it was available in the Las Vegas area.

Received this bottle in a trade. Thanks Ed. There is no date on the bottle.

This poured black with a thin head and left nice lacing. Sweet malts dominate the nose with a little smokiness. The taste is similar, slightly sweet, a little smokey, excellent aftertaste. You don't really notice any alcohol component.

A very tasty brew that reminds me of Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout but it doesn't have the hard water component and I think the mouth feel is a tad thinner.

Pours dark brown/black with 1/4 inch head. Served in a pint glass

Smells like chocolate covered coffee beans with a hint of smoke. Tastes like the average stout with an after taste of coco. It is smooth, no off flavors, everything seems to be accounted for, but I find it to be a little thin. A good tasting stout, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Thanks to ncketchum for this brew. Poured this 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Served slightly chilled.

A) Deep brown in color. A very thin tan with okay retention. Not much lacing, a little bit of traction.

S) Like rum cake, or butter rum, some type of rum flavored desert. It's pretty sweet, a little bit woody and smokey too.

T) Darker malt and roast flavor. Not as much chocolate as I anticipated, but enough to note it. Actually this was pretty sugar sweet, and pretty boozy. The booze gives way to and earthy finish and aftertaste.

M) Actually thicker than it looks, which is odd to say, given the color. The feel is pretty smooth, not quite full bodied, light carbonation, kind of oily, bordering on syrupy. Gets a little sticky.

O) Not a boozy mess, but this just didn't get there for me. The alcohol could have been a little better hidden and at times the sweetness was a bit much. It was worth a try, but I don't see myself returning anytime soon. It was okay....

Bottle poured into snifter. Appearance is jet black with cocoa colored head and nice retention. The nose is rather smokey with loads of chocolate malt and roasted barley. Ashy notes come through as well. Taste is somewhat deep and sweet up front and takes on some smoked malt quality as the flavor develops. The smoke is somewhat surprising considering this brew isn't billed as a smoked stout, but it is definitely present. Pretty decent balance here, ABV is nowhere to be found. The mouthfeel is smooth with moderate carbonation. Overall, a nice little value here. The smoke quality is almost a little too pungent for my liking and seems out of place.

Thanks to thirdeye11 for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a dark amber color with a white head. The aroma has some chocolate notes, but there is also an off-putting quality that resembles trash. The flavor has a lot of chocolate and some very burnt malt notes which are so strong they make the beer tough to drink. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
