Hopped over to Bison Witches after presenting at a conference at the U of A. I found the add in the local paper and taked to a few of the people at the school who recommended it for the big portions and the better than macro brewlist that the place offered. I also have a soft spot for anywhere that puts a buffalo in their ads as I lived in Buffalo for 2 years during grad school.

It was a nice sunny day, so we decided to wait outside for the family style picnic benches. Since it was a weekend and during the lunch hour, the restaurant had about an hour wait for our party of 8. Staking out a picnic table seemed like a much better idea.

I ordered the half sadwich and the clam chowder in the bread bowl. The meal was awesome and the price was ridiculously cheap for the portion that was placed in front of you. I also went for a Trois Pistoles (only $4) while my buddy got a Fat Tire on tap. I opted for the bottle since I wanted something a little bigger.

I would hit up Bison Witches anytime that I could. I wish they had one close by as it is the perfect place to get a good beer and a great meal.

Not a good bar for craft beer lovers! Great bar if you want to get smashed on cocktails because they will pour you a stiff drink. Craft beer is all bottled (why go to a bar?). Had some generic crafts on tap (SNPA, bells 2 hearted) but glasses are dirty and tap lines are as well. Food will give you diarrhea! This is due to the fact that they spread rancid butter all over the over sized pieces of bread before serving. Do yourself a favor and ask for no butter, better yet just avoid this hole in the wall entirely.

A great hidden gem in Tucson where I used to frequent my Saturday afternoons for lunch during my college years. This is a really cool sandwich shop slash bar. Microbrews and imports bottles only cost a few bucks; compare that with the NE region! They have about 50 bottled beers with a fairly good selection. They have on the order of 10 taps with some rotating specialty/seasonal selections included. A fairly young crowd is usually here, not surprising given it's proximity to the UofA. It is a fairly small shop, with a bar situated in the middle of what appears to have been at one time two small store fronts. Fairly subdue lighting, with the cool use of woks as cieling lamp shades.

They had a wide, glass storefront with the entry on the right facing side. The space was divided in half by center wall with a couple of archways, one for the bartenders, the other for patrons. Booths lined each lengthwise wall with table seating along the windows. The bar was stainless steel painted over with flat black 5/8 of an octagon-shape. Wrought iron sculptures of a backpacker; the logo of a capped buffalo scared witless while riding a broomstick; and a mountain biker. Back left wall had a mural of a trippy-looking bunch of onlookers watching something flying in the distance. Back bar down centerline with kitchen just aft, right and a cooler of beer just before the kitchen. Lavs aft on right side, followed by doorway to outdoor patio with its own bar.

Beers: Eight (8) taps - 2 Bud, 2 Anchor, SNPA, Shiner Hefe, Guinness, Lost Coast Great White.

Thirty (30) US micro bottles; twenty (20) import bottles.

Wittkerbe and Tecate in can.

Premium Imports; Fin du Monde; Duvel; Saison DuPont; Foret Saison. Nice!

I went on a Friday night and the place was hopping with college aged kids and late 20-somethings. It was later in the evening so I wasn't there to eat, just to have a couple beers. The bottle selection is decent, taps were kinda limited. I only remember there being 4-5 craft brews on tap, but 2 of them were Sierra Nevada and Anchor Steam which you can find on tap at about half the bars in the city. I would like to return for a meal since it seems like the place is more known for its sandwiches.

One of the best sandwich shops in Tucson, combined with one of the best craft beer selections in town. Small indoor bar and eating area combined with a covered picnic area. Awesome sandwiches and soup (potato cheese kills it). Great, cheap combo of 1/2 sandwich and a bread bowl of soup. Beer selection, medium t- small, based upon your perspective, but more than makes up for it in quality. Dogfish Head, Avery, Moylan's, New Belgium, etc. all on tap. And its not the "mainline" stuff like Fat Tire (although its there), but rarer and seasonal brews. Bigger bottle selection. And its cheap. Good rotating selection of micros as well as some Belgians. Always hit this place when I'm in Tucson.

For it's size this place is alright, but, not a beer destination IMO

This place has the typical college town eating joint vibe at lunch. Sports on the tube & lots of folks chowing down

Food & beer were in good shape

We sat at the bar & were taken care of pretty well

Ten taps, some, not so good or typical (fat tire) . Not too wide or eclectic a selection. Bottle selection was pretty good. Not much support of local brewers. Lost Coast's Great White was my big find, nuff said...

Typical deli food in fairly decent shape

beer & food were of good value. No big beer Mecca, but not bad.

Recommended by some other BA's, so I figured I'd check it out to get some food and beer on a Saturday night.

First off, a decent selection of beers. Quite a few bottles from California, Colorado, Arizona (Nimbus), and a handful of other good craft breweries. They also have the standard BMC. Import selection consists mostly of Mexican beers and the standard international lagers. Around 10 beers on tap, half of which are craft. Great prices, too. (Ok, I'm basing this on prices in Chicago and Boston, so they seemed cheap.) Only problem was my bottled beer was served without a glass, and when I asked for one, I got a frosted one.

If you're in the mood for a huge sandwich with your beer, this is the place to go. A large list of choices, too. Be sure to try the rye bread!

Service was fantastic, the waitress made sure we had everything we wanted.

Definitely plan on going back.

Stopped by here after a long day of meetings at a nearby hotel. This was a welcome respit. Although it is small, it is a nice quiet place to grab a pint with a buddy and converse about the days activities. A couple of booths and tables for seating. There were not many people at the time I was there, Thursday about 3pm. I enjoyed the Fat Tire. I have to get that every time I go west as it isnt available back in NC. Overall a nice place with a small but effective selection of drafts and plenty of beers in the bottle as well. A nice stop before a long night ahead.
