Smooth, full-bodied, nuts & berries porter with a coffee-like finish. Based on traditional English porters of the late 1800′s first created for the hardworking Irish immigrants who wanted a ‘stout’ style brew to drink on their all-too-short lunch breaks.

Appearance: Pours a nearly completely black color with a strong tan head. SRM of 23. (4.00)

Aroma: Strong aromas of milk chocolate, English cream, some cocoa and floral notes. (3.75)

Flavor: Strong flavors of milk chocolate, cocoa, light bitter coffee roast. Finishes with smooth milk chocolate. (4.00)

Feel: Medium-bodied, average carbonation. Smooth and malty. (3.75)

Compared to Hillsboro Joes Porter 1/2023: Pours darker, larger head. Milder aromas. More milk chocolate, English cream. Less dark pine, berries, coffee roast.

Overall: A nicely done Porter here. Not overpowering with some subtle English cream flavors. Smooth, malty and drinks nicely. Smooth, balanced, and not overpowering. A nice and smooth, malty Porter with subtle English notes. (Rating: 3.92)

Good lacing (a solid rim streak from the first sip, spots thereafter) from the modest head. The liquid is deep brown where light passes through the glass's center. Appears to be clear.

Dry chocolate smell. Not harsh nor bitter--think unsweetened cocoa.

The taste is dry as well. The body is a bit thinner than expected with an elevated carbonation level. The swallow darkens chocolate flavor but isn't overly bitter. Shorter aftertaste.

Taste: toasted dark chocolate malts, earthy, hints of coffee, very dry flavorful finish. Same with the roasted nose. Very dark brown hue, partially clear, tall tan head and some lace. Medium to full body. Went well country pork chops. 38 IBUs

I've been thru Lake Louie's town 30 times, but only my second from this brewery.
Looks, smells, and tastes like a porter. Too spritzy on my tongue.

Medium brown pour to form a dark chocolate body with a beige head of 2 fingers. Lace left in skirted rings. 100% opaque.

Some interesting chocolate notes on the nose, with roast malts and coffee bean. Could be a bit more strong, it's hard to nose.

Tommy's has an interesting flavor profile, starting with spoiled milk, followed by uncarbonated coke, fake chocolate powder, and heavy, heavy to the point of being overwhelming burnt and roast malts. Bitter coffee and lactose are the remnants. Leaves undesireable roast bitterness on the tongue.

Roasty dryness throughout; a touch thin, and a major dryness on the finish.

Overall, glad I just bought one. A pretty poor porter despite the reviews. It's like drinking a can of coke that's sat out for a week.
