A: Pours a rich dark brown with a thick off-white head. Looks nice.

S: Aroma brings cola, charred bread, sarsaparilla, caramel, vanilla, mild peat, cooked sugar.

T: A bit grapey, molasses, lightly astringent char, vanilla, fig. Quite rich.

M: Thick-bodied and creamy, chewy.

O: Not always a huge Lake Louie fan, but they do make some fantastic scotch ales. This and Warped Speed are phenomenal beers, perfectly balanced in sweetness and awesome mouthfeel.

The bottle version of this brew Isn't quite as stellar as the draft version (which I gave a 4.6). It's a beautiful pour into a snifter. Golden clean viscous motor oil. The finger of off-white head dissipates quickly, and the tiny-bubble lacing slides down the glass from the slippery alcohol.

The aroma is really nice, moist zucchini bread, cookie dough, and a workaday flour malt. It presents itself as a polite breakfast syrup sweetness, reserved in its hints of other character traits: a faint grassy/grainy earthy aura that surrounds the grainy sweetness.

In the mouth the high alcohol gives a fruity zip to the sweet malt. And the hop bitterness pulls it further ceiling-ward. A diacetyl toffee smoke puts one in mind of breakfast and pancakes and burnt, buttered toast.

There's a metallic tartness that I wish were less bright (something I don't remember from the draft version). Middle to high carbonation is somewhat of a drawback, for what otherwise would have been simple cream.

Still one of my favorite Strong Scotch ales of all time. Definitely rivals Founders Backwoods Bastard, which makes its own weather because of the barrel aging. Beats my other two commonly found go-to's, Oskar Blues Old Chub and Dark Horse Scotty Karate. Much better than Skull Splitter or Sticky McDoogle.

poured 12 oz bottle into chalice.

A - Dark brown with an amber hue and a thin tan head. A ring holds for the session and I see some smatterings of lacing.

S - A malty caramel nugget bomb! I also pick up notes of chocolate raisin and prune. There is a slight smokey scent with hints of faint fruit.

T - So much caramel nugget and sweet malt, it is just waves of it! Good amount of chocolate, raisin and prune with a touch of toffee, syrup and sweet fruit.

M - Medium bodied with a light syrupy feel. Carbonation is okay for the style.

O - I find this to be one of the best Wee Heavy beers in WI and it is Lake Louie's finest beer. I enjoy a 4 pack of this every year. If you are in WI during October, do yourself a favor and get a pack or two.

A: Transparent with a slight haze, dark copper color with a cream colored head that does not last aside from the ring around the glass

S: Rich malty nose, caramel and almost a raisin smell. Very enjoyable for the style

T: Deep raisin/prune flavor, caramelized malts, mild hop flavor, mild peat/smokiness.

M: Body is medium-low, carbonation is moderate.

O: This is a great Scotch ale, it is very pleasant and easy drinking.
