Oscar's has a familiar feel to it as you walk in, very welcoming. A nice old wooden bar, polished brass. A large selection of taps about a dozen. A lot of PA local beers, Troegs, Weyerbacher, Victory, Sprague Farm, Stoudts and some imports as well. A good selection of seasonal brews and bottles available. Most of their beer seems fresh. A great happy hour. Food is outstanding and at reasonable prices. The staff is willing and able to help with questions about beer if that comes up. Great place to stop after a day at the lake.

Oscar's is a solid bar, with a pub atmosphere. This place is dark and has a bit of a lighting issue, but I kind of like it. Everything about this place has a feel of being used and loved, feels like there is a history to it, and that makes me like to be part of the history of this place.
The service is excellent from my experience, the bar tenders are willing to give beer samples if you aren't sure of the brew, and they will even work with you if you order something that you don't like.
The beer selection is pretty diverse, but also is a bit hit or miss. Sometimes they will have 8 great beers and others that will have 1 or 2. However, if they by chance don't have anything you are interested in on tap they also have a fantastic bottle selection. The bottle menu even has the owner's "ranking" for each beer on the menu. I don't always agree with him, but it is a good place to start.
Their food is pretty good, some menu items are better than others. Their burgers and sandwiches are excellent, as well as the pizza. Great place to visit, the best place in the area as far as I know.

We went to Oscar's based on other BA reviews. We were there Friday afternoon and the place was empty. According to our bartender, summer is the slow season? Hmm...This is a pretty big tourist area in the summer due to the rather large body of water due north.
I have to admit, I wasn't quite taken with the place as others have. The tap beer selection was OK, nothing that I have not had before. The atmosphere was very English Bar like as others have said but way too dark for my tastes. The beer was disappointing though. My wife had an Andersen Valley Summer Solstice that was unpalatable. It had very strong vinegar taste and smell to it. I had a Storm King Stout that was just delicious, so no complaints about my beer. Sounds like it just may be a tap line issue with the Summer Solstice.
We did eat there and the food was good and reasonably priced. For 2 beers, a margarita (Friday drink special) and 2 sandwiches, our total came to $22.
If this is the best that Erie has to offer, then I would recommend this place. For a city the size of Erie, there has to be better though.

This is my favorite bar here in Erie, Pa as far as the beer selection goes. They tend to keep lots of locals in stock as well as keep up with several seasonal releases such as.... Troegs Nugget Nectar, Victory Hop Wallop, Weyerbacher Harvest Ale, Great Lakes Nosferatu, Sierra Nevada Celebration, Troegs Mad Elf...etc.
They are a bit overpriced, but not too bad. They also keep lots of English and Belgian beers in stock such as Youngs, Corsendonk, Chimay, Belhaven, Samuel Smtih's, Greene King, and many more.
The atmosphere is traditional English Pub style with dim lights and lots of wood. The food is just ok though. Their Roasted Red Pepper and Artichoke Dip is a great beer companion.

Went to Oscar's based on a recommendation and I wasn't disappointed at all. Upon entering, the place is clearly laid out like an old-fashioned speakeasy. Everything in sight in made out of wood and lined with brass. There seems to be adequate room. We were seated right away and the waitress seemd rushed but was very nice. I ordered a Blackout Stout on tap which was delicious. They also had a plethora of taps (maybe 12) with mixed micros and european beers with plenty of other choices in bottle form. I was after the Stout, though. The waitress recommended the blackened burger with provolone and fried greens (I know, sounds weird) which turned out to be one of the best burgers I've EVER had. The charred meat paired well with the stout, too. My wife complimented the chicken pescata. Overall, the dinner for two with 2 beers totalled 45 bucks (that includes tip). I was very happy and I wish I had a place like this to frequent where I live.

Despite the location and appearance this place has a great atmosphere on the inside. Authentic Irish pub inside long wooden bar looks aged but cool and historic at the same time. I could definitely picture hanging out here on a regular basis. Highlights on tap were Bell's Kalamazoo Stout, Two Hearted, Sierra Nevada Brown and Pale, Burning River, and Smithwick's Irish ale. Server was friendly and quick to refill our pints, I will definitely be back here for the bottle selection that was pretty extensive with micros and imports. Food was excellent very affordable for the sandwiches and a great value. Chargrilled Chicken club cooked to perfection with melted swiss and bacon on top, along with a ton of steak fries on the side. Great hang out very good selection for Erie, I will visit again soon I hope.

Oscar's Pub is near the Peninsula in Erie PA, just off Interstate 79 and adjacent to a shopping center. It reminds me of a slightly Americanized English Pub with lots of woodwork and clever decorations. This can be a busy place even during the week. The pub keeps a current menu of beer selections and maintains a tap selection of around 20 or so, including (not always of course) Mad Elf, Arrogant Bastard, 2 Hearted IPA, Stone Products, and many other fine selections. They also offer a fine selection of bottled beer grouped by origin including a healthy list of Belgains.
The food is excellent and is presented very well. Service has always been great. I would highly recommend this place.
