A subtle red beer dominated by neither malt sweetness nor extreme hop. We want ‘balance’. Roast malts, whole English aroma hops and bottling with live yeast are the keys to refreshment and drinkability. Great with cheese.

Poured a cleary honey amber color with a creamy white head. Some lacing.
A nice light hop quality in the nose.
Taste is of a very slight maltiness followed by a bitter mid to far palate. Not overly bitter but just enought to make you want more.
Mouthfeel is crisp and light. I very drinkable beer. It is what I imagine beer in England is like. I can't wait to get there to find out.

500 ml bottle conditioned, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 5.2%. Deep golden colour, large to moderate head, slightly off-white. Fairly nice aroma, malts, toffee, ripe fruits. The flavour is fairly dry, some malts, biscuits and a little fruit, moderate "dusty" English hops in the finish. Drinkable, but not exceptional in any way.

Clear, dark honey colored body; outstanding carbonation, tiny bubbles slowly rising; dense, creamy head, sculpted, light khaki color; cascading rings of foam circle the glass. Toasted malts and toffee dominate the smell. Malt-forward flavor with a mild to moderate hop bitterness; toffee with a very slight hint of diacetyl presence; very mild sweetness. Medium body; soft and velvety; excellent residual sugar feel; semi-dry mouthfeel.
This is an excellent English red ale (the brewery's style description), nicely balanced with a subtle complexity.
Pouring temperature: 44 °F; bottling data: BBF 10 28 22, bottle conditioned

Bottle-conditioned.
L- Beautiful clear chestnut brown. Some rising CO2 and a 1Cm pillowy off-white head.
S- Fruity hops.
T- Comes over as very 'trad' to me. Lovely toasted grains, enough meat (5.2%) on it's bones to give balance and a balanced toasty hoppy finish.
F- Clean, well structured, nothing surprising or out of place, everything in a good balance.
O- I was drinking beer like this 40 years ago, good to know some things do not change.
500ml bottle BB: June-2020
Now I've written up my impressions I'm reading the lable. Their opening line in the description describes an aim of seeking 'balance' that is neither 'malt sweetness' or 'extreme hop' - well they've managed that very well.

Clear burnished gold appearance. Little to no head but a nice gentle stream of rising bubbles.
Typical aroma of English hops and sweet malt.
Again a taste that reflects the flavour of most English summer beers at the moment. Well balanced.
Nice feel due to the bottle conditioning.
Nothing great but a sound pale ale.

(on cask at Victoria Freehouse - served in a 20 oz proper pint)
A: pale gold liquid, relatively clear.... attractive, compact, creamy foam - fantastic retention, big bands of sudsy lace
S: bold golden raisin esters... sugar cookie dough malt... herbal, grassy hops - the quality of aroma like fresh, not-quite-dry hop cones
T: smooth, sweetish, light-toffee, graham-cracker-y malt with a fairly aggressive herbal-leafy bitterness that keeps the palate buzzing... faint toastiness and perhaps mint in the aftertaste
M: exceptionally smooth with a mild sugar/resin residue... absolutely ideal
O: just damn tasty... crazy moreish for anyone who enjoys their bitters
