16.9 oz. bottle poured into nonic
(F13 195 printed on back label)

L: pale gold, very cloudy, big fluffy white head that bursts up a good 1 1/2 inches and sticks at the top; no amber; looks like a pale ale; opacity might be clearing up a bit

S: fruity English pale ale smell with some nice sweetness; man, is that nice ... really mixes the good light malt (sweet biscuits; bread) with some yeast into a pronounced hop profile for an English ale; the hops are green and grassy more than bitter

T: follows the nose almost 1 to 1 to start with; sweet fruity English ale note, lots of barley, light barley, and there is definitely some hops in here; more than that little English "bitter" taste, you actually can detect some green/grassy/spicy tastes

F: loads of carbonation despite the big head -- the bottle-conditioning is fantastic here; feels pretty light but not watery

O: now *this* is what we thought India Pale Ales were meant to be! like the brewery says, the style floated from the UK to India to the North American Pacific Coast and now it's found a good home in this brew back in the UK. I can hardly describe how happy I am to find a hoppy British IPA that uses good English hops ... wow!

If you're a noble-hops/British-hops fan, FIND THIS BEER!

A 500ml bottle with a BB of June 2013. Picked up a little while back from a supermarket in Oxford. The label describes it as an authentic IPA...

Poured into a tulip pint glass. Bottle conditioned. A luminous golden-amber hue with faint haze and low carbonation. Forms a small head of white foam that subsides after a minute or so. Aroma of bright, fruity hops with notes of grapefruit, orange, citrus and grass. Grainy caramel malt and earthy yeast underpin the hops. An unpleasant metallic twang lurks in the background.

Tastes of caramel malt with a hoppy character and a dry, bitter finish. Notes of grapefruit, citrus, grass, earthy yeast and grain. Dry and slightly spicy. A decent but restrained bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and tingly, with good body; the low carbonation doesn't detract from the texture. Somewhat astringent, with an aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops and dry yeast.

Tasty - a solid example of a British IPA. Not as chock-full of hops as an American IPA, but still hoppy and nicely balanced. The yeast adds depth to the flavour. Very drinkable and I would happily have another. Well worth trying if you have the chance.
