Compared to the Total Wine I usually visit in Towson, MD, this one has a much smaller selection. It is pretty much what you would expect in terms of a wall of singles, six-packs, a cooler section, etc. There is just less product than what I am used to. It was also more difficult to find certain beers since seasonals were spread out all over the store. I would visit again due to the prices and pretty good selection, but I was not blown away.

I have been to other stores in this chain, and this one looks about the same. Beers are organized by style and country/region. All beers are clearly priced. Those prices seemed a bit higher than other locations, but maybe that is just VA. Selection was good, my only contact with staff was checking out, he was friendly. Overall a good store, but didn't quite meet the standards of their locations in DE, NC, & FL.

Wow! Growler filling station on site. Excellent choices (for now) that change, at least somewhat, weekly. My liver may never recover! Manager and Beer Sommelier are extremely knowledgeable and answer all questions appropriately!

_Have growler station now
_Corporation has dumped money into this site
_Way beer savvy manager in place

I've been shopping here for 10 years or so and at this point this Total site is at a peak for delivering the best beer available to our Fredericksburg market . The gem of the area.

This store is a "double-edged sword" when compared to the Claymont, Delaware location, which is close to my home. The Claymont one is rather run down, but it has an outstanding selection. The Fredericksburg one is in better condition, but it really skimps on beer selection. Fair enough; the name is Total WINE, right? The store is only half or a third of the size of the Claymont one. Part of that must be due to the fact that Virginia doesn't allow private stores to sell spirits or local wines. You have to go to the VA ABC store across the street from here for those selections. My suggestions: ditch the aisle of overpriced Williamsburg peanuts and other junk. Soda should be cut too. Maybe even cigars. Right now, the store only has a grocery store-esque selection of beer. And the sign on the front of the store is really faded!

The only place to go for your beer needs before 9pm. They generally have everything that Capital Ale House offers, and at much cheaper prices. Grab a mix and match 6er of beer you just haven't gotten around to trying, all the way up to a case of bell's two-hearted, or order from the knowledgeable staff for a 1/2 keg of Rogue's Dead Guy. All the breweries that regularly ship to Virginia are in stock, and there is a nice selection of foreign beers as well. This is the best place to buy beer between Richmond and Fairfax.

(if it's past 9pm, sigh quietly to yourself and go to Wegmans.)

Not a bad place, but not great either. They have a nice variety of mix-a-six options, with just about every beer available as a single. They get some nice stuff in there, but a lot of it is pretty standard stuff. This store was perfect for me when I first started getting into craft beer; I would go there and get a variety six pack just about every week and I was always excited because it seemed like there were endless amounts of beer there. Now, I wish they would have a bigger selection of special release and seasonal brews, but still not shabby.

The staff is not particularly helpful. Once, I actually had to help an employee locate a beer because her manager asked her to move a couple 6ers to the fridge. If you find the right employee, though, you can get some solid recommendations.

I remember when Total Wines were nothing but wine and accompanying products. Now, they all serve a great selection of craft brews. The selection at this point was essentially a third of the store. They have a lot of individual bottles that you can buy or you can make your own six-pack. They also have all those labels in six-packs and cases for purchase. This was the first time I saw a seasonal selection of beer and it was a sizable endcap. Pricing was the price you'd expect to pay anywhere else. The Employees were relatively knowledgeable and, if nothing else, proactive in finding out information.

The only "big" beer store in Fredericksburg. The availability is somewhat erratic, but the variety is generally quite good. I've gone in several times to find a lot of empty space on the shelves. Other times they are stocked to the gills. Most of what they have is available as singles as well. There are a couple of coolers that get craft beer too. Some stock doesn't appear to rotate much. It pays to look around the area in front of the registers as they often stock there, rather than on the shelves. I almost missed the Sam Adam Longshot because it wasn't on the beer aisle, but displayed by the registers. No help offered from staff, but it isn't really needed.

They publish their beer list at http://www.wineaccess.com/file/store/totalwine/beer-totalwine-fredericksburg.pdf Though there are asterisks by many varieties and a note at the bottom that says "Not available in Fredericksburg or Manassas" which is dissappointing at times. However, I have seen some of such marked beers in stock in Frederickburg at times.

The main drawback is you have to go into the Central Park shopping complex to get there. A prime example of development gone wild with little planning. I tend to hit Kybecca (near Ukrops) first since it's more conveniently located, and also locally owned.

I've been down to this place a few times when my hockey team traveled to Fredericksburg to play in tournaments. There seems to be little activity in the area aside from the main highway/road. Total Wine & More is located in a bevy of chain stores and strip malls.

Quality: Nice clean place. Automatic door gives way to a mountain of wine. They obviously cater to people who can afford and appreciate high end wine. Immediately on the left is a cooler dedicated to fine wine. They have quite a nice selection, some stuff that I've never seen in PA. But enough of that, I'm here to review this place for beer purposes only. They have 2 aisles dedicated to beer. One is for cases and the other is basically 1/2 an aisle dedicated to singles.

Service: Nominal. Didn't really get asked for help, maybe because there was a bunch of us and we were looking at the beer. People were friendly at the checkout. Our IDs got inspected fiercely since we were out-of-staters.

Selection: Great, considering I'm from PA. You can buy single 12 ouncers and they are reasonably priced. I think the most expensive one I bought was Mad Elf for 3 dollars. A lot of the singles aren't even available by the case. It was just nice to try some beers that are reserved for southern areas.

Value: Very good. It's kind of nice to go to a place that doesn't put beer on a pedestal because they won't gouge you on the prices. Once people catch on that they can overcharge and still have people buy the store gets ruined. I think this is probably a gem for the people who live in Fredericksburg.

This is the only beer store in my area that I know of which is why I go there for most of my beer purchases.
Wine is the main focus here as the beer only has maybe a 1/5 of the floor space. While it is true there is some rotation of the beers there is not nearly enough, they have a new brew maybe 6 times a year and usually you have to buy a sixer which I hate when I dont know the beer I'm buying, I prefer to buy 1 and if I like it I'll be back for more.
Some of the beers sit on the shelf too long, the staff while somewhat knowledgeable about beer does not go through the shelfs and remove those bottles that has been sitting there for months, it's middle July and they still have Samuel Smith winter welcome ale and SA dobble bock sitting there in 72 degrees heat and constant light on them.
I have suggested several beers they should order from breweries they already do business with but each time I'm told they can only order a new beer if they order a case and only if I agree to buy it all.

I have a hard time rating this location of Total Wine with it being basically the only game in town. The service was pretty darn good. I had no less than three people ask me if I needed assistance. The staff was very professional and so was their appearance.

The selection is somewhere between a 3.5 and a 4.0, but I don't have that choice. The cold case does not contain single bottles of beer, but there is a good selection of them on the beer aisle.

The Richmond store outshines this store in terms of beer by a mile, but this one blows the Richmond location out of the water in terms of staff.

The quality was good and the staff even talked about the turnover and the amount of different beers they order. This was the first place in VA I have seen Sam Adams Double Bock. Also, their princing was very good.
