Ward's Publick House is a great place to grab a pint and a bite. The shepard's pie and fish and chips are both delicious (if only the fish and chips were available everyday!)
The draft selection is what you would expect from an Irish styled pub- Guinness of course, Smithwick's, and I was pleasantly surprised to find Old Speckled Hen available on draft.
The bartenders and staff are always friendly and on Sundays they have bands playing traditional Irish music, the perfect accompaniment for that second pint!

Visited Ward's on 3/16 to celebrate St. Patty's a day early. Not a large place, about 15 tables and booths, with the bar taking up the greatest portion of the area. Lots of wood and decor was not over the top; what an Irish bar should look like in my opinion. Ordered the calamari and the black angus burger. Both were quite good and the service was also good considering how packed the place was. Ward's is not a beer bar. They have a fair tap selection consisting of Bass, Guiness, Smithwicks, Old Speckled Hen, Guinness, Tetley's, Beamish, Blue Moon, Ward's Lager, Newport Storm and Harpoon IPA. Also a fair selection of bottles, but nothing particularly notable in terms of craft brews. Prices were on the high end of reasonable, but it was a pretty pleasant experience. If you're looking for beer, Ward's may not be the place, but if you want to pull a pint, listen to some Irish music (Thursdays and Sundays) and grab some decent grub, it's worth stopping in.

Went here one day to watch the Red Sox play the Yankees. They didn't have the game on so I thought I was at the wrong bar.
We did ask and then the other people at the bar joined in and forgot the games was on. Lots of beers on tap. Old Speckled Hen, Tetley's English Ale, Smithwicks, Guiness, Bass, Stella Artois, Harp, and Wards Lager.
I ordered the wings, they were pretty good, and some calamari.
The Tetley's was a first for me and was yummy.
I think the lady who waited on us was very nice to us too.

Ok to start out with here is the tap selection; Double Diamond, Old Speckled Hen (nitro), Smithwicks, Harp, Guiness (nitro), Bass, Stella Artois,Harpoon UFO, Narragansett, Newport Storm and Wards Lager (??? from where??? it's a secret!). Kind of the short list of Irish/English pub places with at least the local Newport Storm and nearby Harpoon. If Matt is on the bar service is a 4.5. But with out Matt's knowledge of beer the bar service falls to a 3.0, for average good quick friendly service. The atmosphere here is comfortable and welcoming. I have never been disapointed in any of the meals that I have had here. Usually the specials are quite tasty. For those that are interested "Live Irish Music" Thursday night and Sunday night. All in all a great place for a Shepards Pie and a couple of Storms.

I was in town on business last week, and stopped in for a few pints on a Wed. evening. The place was quiet, with a few guys at the bar. The barman, Matt, is a very cool dude, knowledgable and friendly. The bar is clean, unpretentious and comfortable.
I had the NewportStorm Amber, Harpoon Hefe, and Old Speckeled Hen on tap, and the NS IPA in bottle. Their selection was OK, I was hoping for more of a selection of local brews, but Matt's enthusiasm and knowledge about beer more than made up for it. They have Irish entertainment on Sundays, and a nice food menu too.
I recommend stopping by if you're in the area.
