On tap at Newhall Refinery in Newhall, CA.
2013 vintage.
Pours a light brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, earth, citrus zest, bourbon, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with caramel, toffee, citrus zest, bourbon, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of wood bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with solid barrel aged qualities that are slightly better in the taste, but I am hard pressed to get any vanilla aromas or flavors whatsoever.
Serving type: on tap.
