On tap at Seasons downtown CDA, ID.
Looks like Widmer definitely stepped their game up with this IPA. This is the BEST beer I have had from them. The 2 draft beers I had were excellent, it taste almost like an Enjoy By. There is a nice hoppy/piney flavor with citrus and grapefruit. It's very fresh and drinkable. This is a very good IPA and I will definitely be buying a 6 pack soon.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into a DFH IPA glass. The bottle was stored in a fridge at roughly 45 degrees and purchased as soon as the beer released –drank within 2 months from bottling date. The pour is hazy dark amber in color, two finger carbonated head with cream color, the head sticks for a while until it subdues to a thin foamy crust that still covers the entire surface of the glass. As you drink the beer, the head leaves a short-lived patchy decorative lacing.
Initially, the aroma is a citrusy in-your-face smell that stings with zesty grapefruit and lime, behind it a honey aroma evolves as your senses pick up the spectrum of its flavors. After a few times smelling the brew, I get a very dank aroma consisting of papaya and mango – just as you would smell the basket of ripened fruit containing these at a farmer’s market. The taste is a caramel sweet and fruity (mango, papaya and grapefruit) initially, leading to a very bitter finish that is not as hop-forward as I expected. In fact, to my surprise, there wasn’t much of a hop presence which is uncharacteristic of PNW IPAs – doubtful if due to “bottled to drank” elapsed time but possible.
Mouthfeel is creamier than I would’ve thought – I expected this being a PNW IPA with 7% ABV it would be crisp and with more carbonation (let alone hoppier). The mouthfeel, in my opinion, makes the dankness and ripened fruit flavors more pronounced effectively minimizing the minute hop flavor.
Overall – I was not too impressed with this offering although it’s not bad either. Not something I would seek out or buy again but at the same time I wouldn’t shy away from it if offered.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter. March 20, 2014 on the label.
A: Pours a mostly clear golden amber with a white head on top. Some visible floaties in stasis in this unfiltered ale. Average amount of visible carbonation. Leaves some lacing on the sides of the glass.
S: Fresh fruity citrus hop aroma on this one. A bit of malt sweetness makes up the backend. A touch of spiciness in there too. Quite pleasant.
T: Solid bitterness makes this a pleasant IPA. Not as much hop flavors as the aroma would lead you to believe but good dose. A grapefruit like citrus mixed with a sweeter fruit. Malts round out the backend with just enough to balance it out.
M: Medium to full body as its fairly thick from the wheat malts. Carbonation is low. Isn't too hot at all but gives a nice warming.
Overall its a nice IPA with a decent bitterness and hop flavor. Might not be something I would seek out again, but wouldnt turn down an offer to have one.

Appearance - Pours a somewhat hazy golden orange with a finger's worth of off-white head. Fair retention, resulting in a broken layer of surface suds. Leaves a fair amount of lacing around the glass with good stick.
Smell - Citrus notes with a bready undertone.
Taste - Follows the nose. Strong citrus flavor and a soft, slightly toasted bready malt backbone. Long lingering grapefruit pith bitterness in the aftertaste. Simple, but enjoyable.
Mouthfeel - Medium to full in body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, semi-dry finish.
Overall - A pretty good IPA by Widmer. Nothing mind blowing in originality, but points for execution. I wouldn't seek it out exclusively, but wouldn't be opposed to giving it another go.
